Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

      1. It’s just hanging there! I wonder how it got into that shape and how long it’s been like that. That tree definitely does not like to look like the others. Livin’ on the edge! lol
Have a great start to the weekend and hope you have wonderful walks and good weather.

      2. Indeed – a wild life for that tree but it lives on. It is going to be quite hot this weekend, and maybe stormy on Sunday. I am going to stick close to home this weekend. Hope you have a nice Father’s Day planned and your weather cooperates for Dad’s special day.

      3. Another stormy weekend? Summer just started yeaterday…hope that lessens the frequency of storms for you. The heat can be bad too though.
CA. Gets super hot, burning hot. Rarely do we get humidity though, more like dry desert heat.
It was a good day of staying mellow: online church, made waffles for kids and Chris, and cleaning the closet. Again. Nonetheless it was good. On the couch now catching up on wp.
Hope you have a great evening and good rest for the start of a new week! Hugs…😀😀😀

      4. Well, it was this searing hot weather and humidity – the humidity is a killer. A friend of mine and his wife retired in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He says the temperature could be over 100, maybe even 105 but no humidity so tolerable. We had rain this morning, a storm tomorrow morning (handyman thinks he will be here at 9:30 to do the gutters – I think not if we have all that rain/storms). There goes another walk. Then two days of cooler weather, then really hot/humid again … and just think, now we are slowly crawling toward Winter. I am glad you had a mellow and good day. That is what we need. Last weekend I took for “me days” but I worked in the house and the yard this past weekend … not that fun, but it is done now for a week or so. All the heat and humidity seems to make gigantic weeds. Hugs back at you – may all your days be as mellow as your Sunday was.

      5. I can see why you are an avid weather news person. With all the erratic weather patterns, you have to know to plan the day or the week ahead. I don’t mind hot weather, kind of used to it, except for humidity. It does a number on my hair and you just feel icky.
Good thing that you worked on your yard last week. You need a break!
Thank you! I hope my summer days will be mellow and bright. I’m trying to be optimistic and learning to accept who I am and not trying to be what I’m not. So cliche but such a true statement.
Hope you are having a good day and staying well!

      6. We are unfortunately going to have a rainy weekend, both days this weekend and shooting back into the high 80s/90 again. I don’t like the erratic weather at all – the new norm frustrates me a lot. That is why you make the most of good weather as who knows what type of weather you’ll get the following weekend. My hair is stick straight so I put it in curlers to give it some bounce and fullness, but if I go out in the humidity, it falls flat as a pancake. Enjoy your school respite and stay safe and well.

      7. That kind of weather could have that effect…make the most of good days! I have fine hair that is wavy. Humidity makes the curls more defined, but the top of my hair falls flat.
Thank you! I am enjoying the summer vacation and having less pressure to cover lessons with the kids. I need a break! You stay safe and well too. hugs…

      8. Yes, we’re having another deluge of rain and possible severe weather tomorrow night after sunset. I hope it fizzles out – my fingers are crossed. Hair and humidity don’t mix well for me. My hair has not been cut since last October 26th and I am reluctant to go to have it cut – our hair salons just opened up last week.

      9. Why oh why?! The weather is extreme where you live. If you didn’t work from home, picking which shoes to wear depending on the weather would be challenging. Rain boots would be used frequently.
This is the time to have funky hair! Embrace it. Salons are not open where we are. Be careful if you do go; it’s close contact. No chit chat.

      10. The weather is just fractious these days – there was severe weather, but we did not have the high winds they predicted … I am glad we did not get the 65-75 mph winds and hail but we did get two torrential rain/thunderstorms. And it rained again today. It was rumbling this morning, so I decided to sleep in and get things done in the house. I don’t sleep in unless it is raining and often they predict rain and it doesn’t happen, then I’m made I didn’t go out as I don’t like to go later in the day (Fall and Winter maybe but the ambiance is different at the Park later in the day as more families are there, less critters). I am going to cut my hair next weekend – got a pair of haircutting shears. It does not help the highlights/lowlights though, but maybe it is time to let that go too and let some gray come through. I have light brown hair so it’s not too noticeable. I’m surprised you’re still not open … we just opened a week ago Monday, but California had a lot of cases. I am worried as we are getting a lot of new cases again. I made a dental cleaning appointment for September 18th – didn’t feel confident going once they opened late May. Eye doctor keeps sending reminder e-mails … not sure about that, but more sure there than the dentist. Not right now.

      11. One of my friend’s family member is an opthamologist, and doctors in that field are nervous. Since they’re so close to their patient’s faces, it could be easy to contract it.
The hair places are not open here, but maybe they are? I haven’t really kept up with that. I’m letting go with the hair and just living with what the good Lord gave me. I will color it soon however. 😉 Let me know how your haircutting goes. This is the time to don cool home cut hairstyles!
Like you mentioned, there’s something about rain that makes you want to sleep in. I especially like looking out the window, hearing the rain, and reading something. It’s very relaxing. When I was a student, rainy days were perfect for cramming.

      12. Funny I didn’t read this until tonight (wish I had read it last night) … I bit the bullet and made an eye doctor appointment for July 24th – my boss is on a few days’ vacation and I am thinking I’ll come home and want to just “de-germ” and I have worries about being so close to the eye doctor’s face, but at least there is a mask … but nervous nonetheless. I decided to do it because I’ve worn glasses since age 7 and worry about going another year without an eye doctor appointment. I’m already nervous thinking about it … dental cleaning … that is a whole other realm. The appointment is September 17th and already nervous about going there though.

      13. One appointment at a time…
If the dental cleaning is not an immediate need, I would just wait it out. Why expose yourself to more germs if you don’t need to? This COVID has people’s nerves on end.

      14. This resurgence is happening too fast and our Governor says that she will revert us to a lower phase if it gets much worse. I really hope that they don’t close the Park again because that is something I look forward to daily.
