A poo poo day

Oh no, what’s going on? Yesterday was a good day with the kids. Today is not off to a smooth start. eeek!

I woke up grumpy and far behind on some unspecified schedule I give myself. My sleep was erratic since Ellis woke up and cried that she couldn’t go to sleep. She had already been sleeping for 2 hours, so that was weird.

Then she stared at me and had that look of “I’m not feeling good.” She felt nauseated and on the verge of throwing up. She ran to the bathroom and stood over the toilet. Nothing. I looked at her sitting in the hallway ready to spray down the toilet afterwards. This happened two times with nothing coming out. Next, she was all flustered and needed a massage, a cuddle, and me to sleep next to her on the floor (closer to the bathroom if she throws up).

Wide awake at this point. Fell asleep when the sun was coming up. 😦 For a person trying to stick to a non-existing schedule, this is not good.

Elliot is upset with me because his tablet was not charged. I told him it’s his responsibility; that comment annoyed him. We’re working on designating responsibilities; it’s not a pretty process.

I hope you don’t mind me sharing this post with no specific message. Just sharing what’s on my mind.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Totally! It feels much better to share than to sit here in frustration by myself. Thank you for your kind comment, and the day ended up getting better, around 8 p.m. lol

  1. You probably feel better after saying this … I don’t know how you do it. I’ve never had kids, nor siblings. You deserve a big pat on the back.

    1. Linda, thank you! I feel your virtual pat on my back. God made kids cute for a reason: you let a lot of things slide when they give you that smile or sweet face. I feel really lucky to be a mom but it’s a challenge to keep up with them and to raise them as responsible, discerning, and kind people. Thus, my grey hairs…

      1. I don’t envy you for having to have boundless energy and patience – consider yourself patted on the back often for that job you are doing!

      2. None for me either – good thing a firework went off, as I nodded off. The heat has done me in. It was 77 degrees when I went out this morning.

      3. Yes, I went this morning but walked one time around the whole loop, then spent the rest of my time walking up and down the shady side. Speaking of the heat being an irritant, we have had 12 freeway shootings since June 15th and the state police said just drive and don’t pay attention to anyone making gestures or who might cut you off – just put on blinders. Yikes!

      4. So many cases of misplaced anger?! That’s a high number of freeway shootings in less than a month.
We have some of those incidents here too. It is best to stay nice on the road and not aggravate people’s road rage…often fatalistic. When someone cuts me off, I just let it go. You never know who would have a gun while driving. Yikes! Wise choice Linda, just let it go. Not even worth it.

      5. We spiked with cases here in Michigan and the overall amount of new U.S. cases was very high today – can’t remember the total now, But it was a little shocking. 2020 is a year for the books, that’s for sure and I hope not too much of 2021 as well. Our state police say just practice FIDO which he says is “forget it and drive on’ – good idea. We had a humdinger storm this afternoon – power went out briefly, just long enough to trip the digital clock on the stove. But I opened the front door and looked outside and there was a lot of wind and a branch came off a tree and it was hailing, all in the course of about two minutes. We are having another storm tomorrow afternoon and a worse one Friday. This is not the norm to have this many days above 90 degrees and they are saying next week will be even hotter – instead of a “real feel” of 100F, it will be an actual temperature of 100F. Both yesterday and today, they said “possible sprinkle” in the morning.

      6. When you update me on the weather over there, it seems unreal. How could it be so drastic like that?! You have to have a flexible attitude to deal with all that weather flux.
We just have hot, dry weather, so when it starts raining, people become terrible drivers.
I like “FIDO”; easy way to remember that the road is not a safe place to show your irritations with other drivers. FIDO all the way, even applies to some life situations.

      7. They joke here that “if you don’t like the weather in Michigan, just wait a few minutes” and the weather has been very erratic the last 3-4 years. I started noticing it then and as an example, my friend Marge that you met in the post I wrote for her, died in August 2017. On December 3rd that year she would have turned 80 years old. It was 70 degrees I believe on December 3rd. I went for a walk in the morning, came home and was visiting with one neighbor putting up Christmas decorations in a tee-shirt and shorts and spoke with Marge’s son – so I specifically remember that date. It was a Sunday – just a few days later, we had a freak snowstorm. In January we had a heat wave – almost 70. Just not normal anymore. Either is this heat wave. It is almost tying a record but the heat wave ends tomorrow with the cold front, but worse next week with the temps at 100 – imagine the heat index then. Dangerous weather. Yes FIDO is worth remembering – better to turn the other cheek and move on.

      8. The weather is very erratic in Michigan. You got to have an open mind to deal with that weather flux.
That’s funny you mention the guy in shorts and t-shirt putting up Christmas decorations. We have quite a few of those Christmases here, although it’s been rainy and gloomy the past 2 years. There was even hail.
Friends we miss…you realize life is short after a big loss. I wish I could remember that more often; more often than not, the daily grind gets me down.
I will remember FIDO! Wise move.

      9. We are having a storm now – the third storm today and it will be like this through the night and into the morning – no walk tomorrow I think (I don’t go later in the day this time of year and prefer early morning as more critter activity and more peaceful as to not many humans around). Anyway, it is still very hot and I shut the A/C off three times today and now it is staying off – too much thunder out there – I likely won’t be on here much longer. And we had torrential rain 2X today for the third day in a row. That’s good as we had no rain for a long time. FIDO is good to remember. I worked for a paralegal one time and he was the nicest and most affable guy you’d meet. His hobby was his stock car which he raced at a local raceway every weekend April through September. His wife had a horse and so they each had their hobbies. Anyway, Terry had a huge pickup truck to haul the race car around. He was driving into work one morning and someone cut him off. He told me when he got into work, that he was so mad, he chased the guy off the expressway, down a lot of side streets just to scare him. I saw Terry in a new light that day – and it was unflattering, not to mention dumb.

      10. The Michigan weather is wild!! Glad you got some rain though…good for our earth!! But it’s awful how you have to deal with the power interruptions and breaks in your exercise.
FIDO all the way! People take things too personally, especially on the road. It can be a reaction to anger you feel or something that happened to you that day. Glad Terry didn’t get into more trouble or that person retaliate, but that was not a smart move. sigh. Kindness goes a long way, and how would he have felt if someone chased him off the road?!
When someone cuts me off I tell myself maybe that person has a poop emergency or some other emergency. It makes me feel better. lol.
        Have a great weekend! hugs…

      11. It was gorgeous the last three days, so not happy to deal with heat again after midweek. Then we have a lot of rain and storms on the horizon. We have Summer storms, but nothing like what we have lately. We can grumble under our masks and no one knows. 🙂 Hugs back at you Esther.

      12. Hahahaha, yes, the mask does cover the grumbles and so many other emotions. This mask-wearing culture is teaching me to use my eyes to communicate (as much as I can) with others. It’s hard when you are greeting someone, and they can’t see a smile. On the other hand, it’s useful when you’re mad because no one can see your frown or pout. That works for me. lol

      13. Me too! I often grumble in traffic, especially when people cut you off, speed up so you can’t move over … or honk at you. This way, no one knows what’s going on beneath the mask. 🙂

      14. Yesterday I accidentally cut someone off right before a freeway exit. He honked and I waved furiously through the rearview mirror to apologize. He drove next to me and I mouthed sorry, and he nodded with a smile. whew…My kids kept asking me if he honked because he was mad. I said maybe, or maybe it was an alert honk. who knows?!

      15. You’re lucky he was not a nut case Esther. We have 12 incidents recently where someone is randomly shooting people on the expressway – not caught him/her yet. The world is crazy these days.

      16. What is going on with these people?! 12 incidents?? How can you drive peacefully knowing that someone could shoot you for making a lane change? Stay safe on the road.
I was grateful he smiled instead of flipping his finger or yelling. But yes, must be careful.
People are angry, sad, frustrated, etc. and some take it out on other drivers. I pray when I turn on the engine each time and ask for safe travels for me and others. You should try that too!

      17. I do that too Esther … and I am concerned about distracted drivers as well. This is a real problem here in Michigan. We had a case where a guy was Googling for bars that were opened and not paying attention and plowed into a family – he, of course, lived.

    1. Thank you! I am feeling better. It was one of those days when you are just pooped out from mediating sibling squabbles and kids getting mad at me. The stress adds up!
Hope you are having a good start to a new week. 🙂

      1. It certainly is! It’s the same with me. No matter what, at the end of the day, I tend to be grateful that I lived to see it.

You’re welcome, and thank you as well, for always checking in/up on me and also for the wonderful encouragement. You’ve been such a wonderful blessing for me, and I thank God for you. 💙
