Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things.       1. All I saw was teeth and a missing tooth on the bottom embedded in the stuffed animals. 🙂 I used to collect bears, and have over 50 of them collected over my lifetime, til about 15 years ago – I ran out of room to put them.

      2. Her teeth are sticking tight and not wanting to make room for grown up teeth. You should’ve seen the look on her face when other kids showed off their missing tooth/ teeth. I don’t know what the big deal is, but I’m not a 7 year old either. lol.
        I love stuffed animals and have too many to count!! It’s an interest my kids and I share, so we are out of control when we see cute, plush things.
        You had an extensive bear collection too!! Oh man, I hate it when you you run out of space. They do take up a lot of space. I hope you have pictures of them!

      4. Love it! B.W. is adorable. We have stuffies with holes in them that they refuse to give up. I’ve sown up bellies, butts, and noses, but it’s just not the same.
        I hope you have a good weekend and your weather is better than the heat wave we’re experiencing in CA. No breeze, just hot, stale air.

      5. I have heard about the heat wave and thought of you. We have rain right now – it was rumbling earlier so I didn’t turn on the computer, but this afternoon I worked on a few upcoming posts before I stopped to eat. Tomorrow a rainy/stormy day – ugh.

      1. Oh yes, the towels! They used to do that a lot when they were younger. They are 6, almost 8 and 10. This summer I started having them help fold the laundry so they started refraining from jumping in it 😊

      2. Smart mama! That’s a clever way to get them to help and to stop jumping in the laundry pile.
        Your homeschooling must keep you busy, spanning 3 grades. Mine are 7 and 9 years old. We’ve always homeschooled and I’m kind of getting it. Every year has its own struggles. When did you start homeschooling?

      3. We have always homeschooled as well. This year, I though to myself, “you’d think after doing this for 5 years I’d have a better handle on it by now!” Every year is different and as soon as I think I’ve got it figured out, something changes to keep me on my toes!

      4. We’ve been homeschooling for that long too. I start the school year thinking I know what I’m doing, but life happens with all plans shifting as you go. We don’t cover what I planned but learn something else entirely.
        We’re learning with them too! It amazes me how much I missed in school growing up. Second learning opportunity for me.
        When do you start for the year? Or is it all-year round?

  5. Yes! Ditto to that, I love learning with my kiddos. We’re with a charter school so we do have an official start date on 8/24. We did some summer school this year to try and get caught up as my older 2 were about 6 months behind in Math. How about you?

    1. Usually, we dabble in summer lessons except for this summer. They took some fun classes through Zoom but I didn’t really focus on doing lessons. The quarantine since March wore me out and I decided to give myself a break. Next week my older kid is taking a 5 weeks reading class (meets 1x a week) to catch up with reading skills. My little one takes the same classes as brother; don’t know how long that will last.
      We are also a part of a charter school and that starts August 24th! I wonder if it is the same one. I really appreciate the ES who works with us and keeps us on track and accountable.

      1. We’re with South Sutter. I love our ES too!
        My oldest (boy age 10) didn’t start reading independently until a few weeks ago! I just kept reading aloud and praying! I’m really excited that he’s finally reading on his own for fun 😊

        Congratulations to your son for his newly found reading skills!! I know what you mean about praying; I was in tears last year when my son outright refused to try to read. We took a reading class from Institute of Reading Development from Santa Clara University and the teacher’s help and curriculum helped immensely.
        Also, good job mama for your persistence and prayers!! Hope the reading flourishes this year.

  6. Awesome pictures!!! I love the idea of Wordless Wednesdays. As a teacher, I always appreciate visuals to develop cognitive development.

    P.S. I think we have a lot in common… I’m married, live in the bay area, a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist for English Learners in a school district. I also write. Kindred spirits!

    1. So nice to meet you!! We do have a lot in common. I find blogging great in finding or being found by other bloggers who share similar interests and are from the same area.
      It’s wonderful you specialize in helping English Learners through curriculum and instruction. I wish they had some kind of program catering to new English speakers when I started kindergarten in the US. It was sink or swim; I sunk for years. lol
