Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Thank you Yvette! The bouquet was this month’s theme from a local florist. I don’t usually buy flowers for myself, but my friends surprised me with a subscription for this flower fiend. I’ll have one more bouquet coming.
Hope you are well and having a good week so far. Happy 1st day of October!

      1. Well here is a tip that might help
Change the water every three days.
        And pull
        Out any dead ones

        And this is key
The water should have a two drops of bleach and half a teaspoon of sugar –
That mix helps me keep flowers for a long time

      2. Thanks for the tips! I was changing the water everyday and snipping the bottom of the stems.
The water is the tricky part. I’ll try the bleach and sugar mixture next time. I knew about the sugar but not bleach. I read somewhere that 2 teaspoons of sugar will perk up the flowers. Waited and waited: no perkiness. lol.
Thanks again for your tips and have a great weekend!

      3. Well store flowers can be so tricky because they are often treated with stuff and that might impact how the solution works – I mostly have good luck but sometimes the flowers don’t make it long no matter what I do- so we enjoy them while we can eh!? And share pics like you did here so they keep on giving

    1. Oh right, we had a mini earthquake too. sigh…
No idea why earth is lashing out.
I prefer to use autumn instead of fall this year. It’s been a tough 2020 for all.
Hope you are well and having a good transition into autumn!

      1. I like the word “autumn” more as well. I’ll try to adopt that idea going forward too. We’ve had a chilly week so far – 39 when I left the house on my walk this morning.

      2. Oh Esther – it was cold and too cold for that nonsense. I am glad I put all the garden stuff away two weeks ago today, just for this reason, but I have not shut the water off. I thought if it got too hot, I’d water the bushes with a watering can as the hose is now in the garage and not taking it out. We had a gorgeous yesterday but today it rained all day. So I did housework – the house said “thank you!” I would rather have done something enjoyable!

      3. Housework is rarely fun but it feels so good afterwards. When I need alone time, I start cleaning. Trust me; this guarantees alone time!
We have rain in the forecast this weekend…we can never be sure until it happens. That would help with the wildfires.
Will you walk at Council Park in the wintertime?

      4. We have a good week of weather til Sunday late in the day (as of now). And warm as well – to 80 degrees. First below-normal cold and now above-normal warmth. Can’t keep up with it. I do walk at Council Point Park in the Winter – sometimes they plow the walking path but not always. If it’s clear, I will walk – if a little icy, I walk on the grass, but getting there through the neighborhoods can be icy and dicey sometimes too, so a lot of factors have to come into play. Sometimes weekends, it warms up by 11:00 and I don’t worry about falling. Last Winter we had very little snow, but lots of freezing rain – ugh. So that limited some trips in the early part of the year. [I am trying valiantly to keep up here – got behind with doing work at home over the weekend and had to stay late at work two evenings in a row. I am extremely behind, not only with comments, but Reader.]
