This kind of image usually squirrels into my mind when Monday rolls around and I need to balance my role as mommy and teacher. The journey seems ruggedly steep with loose gravel and dust getting in my eyes: journey to cultivate intrinsic learning and help them to make meaningful understandings while covering grade standards seem ruggedly steep.
I’m handing my insecurities to God: only He has the power to revive new life and enthusiasm on these new books that need to be cracked open. Here I go (I started writing this this morning and now it’s late afternoon), readying my vocal cords to belt out bathroom humor songs. It’s a foolproof way to bring them closer to the working table.

I love the quotes and the photos, Esther. Both quotes are profound and I can relate to them. Are you still homeschooling? I thought the schools have reopened. As a teacher teaching in the self-contained (teach everything) classroom, I know it is hard.

Yes, I’m continuing with homeschool. This year I’m having the kids take less online courses. It stressed them out and burned all of us out by the end of the school year.
Yes, you’re a teacher too! Are you still running your after-school program? Working with students you must know the daily trials and challenges of teaching little minds!! Not only that you want them to love learning and build character. Its not a job for the faint hearted. Need God’s help every day to keep the show going!!

I really appreciate the parents who have to homeschool during the pandemic. It’s a hit and miss thing depending on the parents. As a teacher, I had to read the teacher’s edition and make sure I don’t miss what needs to teach. I don’t know how parents do that. You must have to do a lot of preparation.
The district wanted to wait until December to consider having the after school programs. It’s hard for the district to keep track of whether the after school program following the state Covid guideline. That said, my after school program is not running at this point.

I’m trying to pace myself since it’s the start of a brand new school year. Day by day. I think kids have matured over the summer because they are not as rebellious about doing lessons.
It’s Ellis and Chris near the top of the stairs and Elliot just starting to go up. I was the caboose. lol

At least the weather will cooperate for you for a little while and you can have lessons outside maybe. That’s good. Good the kids have matured over the Summer too as it gives you somewhat of a break. I liked those pictures – the caboose bringing up the rear was the photographer. 🙂

Kids grow in spurts and they often surprise me with new sides of their personality or new thing they learned. I just have to roll with it and remember that we’re all figuring things out together.

Thank you Esther – I appreciate that and last night I didn’t do comments and did Reader – but now behind in comments. It is difficult to keep up and when I do catch up, one day away and I’m behind again.

I feel the same…very nicely said: “one day away and I’m behind again.” Maybe we should rephrase that as “not behind” but something more positive? I just can’t think of one right now. You come up with clever titles and names. Any ideas??

I went to bed early last night and the night before I was catching up on comments. I got online late and that will spell doom for “staying current” (how’s that). Well, we could say we are “fashionably late” but that would say the same thing I guess. I’ll keep working on it. “Tardy” sounds like we’re bad. 🙂
