Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!
Is that turtle real, Esther?

It’s a bronze turtle that is at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital lobby. Other animal statues of various sizes and kinds are of mother and children and family.

Aren’t these turtles realistic? At the hospital, there are different bronze animals placed in different unexpected places on the site, like by a rock, hidden near a bush, by the walkway, etc. The sculptor did a fabulous job and the movements seem so natural.

Well you had me fooled there Esther. That is such a sweet idea and whimsical and people need that touch of whimsy when visiting a children’s hospital.

This place makes me appreciate the effects architecture and design have on people. The new hospital building took years to build and it’s connected to the older children’s hospital (used for labor and delivery now). It’s so weird but this place has been a world of fear, happiness, relief, and trauma yet feels safe and hopeful. Lots have happened within those walls.
