Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!
Interesting – wonder what it was? Fluorescent lights maybe? Was it your phone or the camera.

It was my phone and probably in the process of putting it back into my back pocket. Thinking back on it I Think it was Christmas lights I had wrapped around me. Last minute costume idea.

That was a good idea – you dressed up as a package you open with Christmas lights? What did you use for a portable battery source? I know I see them battery-operated lights for wreaths and front windows. Very clever.

It was a mini portable light with a battery pack I got from Target last year. Lat minute search for anything to wear as a costume.
Good way to repurpose holiday accessories!

Yes indeed – it was a good idea. We had a costume party at work one time and one of the guys took a huge clear garbage bag and blew up a lot of long balloons and stuffed them in the bag and made a cardboard hat and horizontal sign that said “Jellybeans”. It was a cute and easy idea – not good if you have to drive to a party though. He just made it in his office that day.

What a great last-minute costume idea and the convenience of it! Did you dress up for it? Many websites give you ideas on easy, fast, and cheap costumes you can make.

Yes I went as a car. The other secretary was petite; I was/am tall. She went as a Mercury Bobcat compact car; I went as a Mercury Cougar luxury car. We spent a lot of time on our costume. Our ad agency did Lincoln-Mercury ads. But the one guy with his jelly bean costume – very cute costume. He was an art director so designed the cardboard name and had his face peeking out and someone stapled the cardboard onto the plastic after he blew up the balloons. So I did that on a cruise ship costume party – it was easy to pack in the suitcase and I didn’t have to drive and worry about sitting down.

Very creative!! I can imagine many hours spent making the costume.
An easy costume suggested online was being static cling; you pin random socks on yourself. Not sure if people would recognize just by seeing it.

Well that is clever, but you’re right … people might not recognize it, so you have to have a prop, like an empty box of fabric sheets that you carry with you.

Maybe wear a sign of what your costume is? But your prop idea makes sense and you won’t have to explain your costume.
