Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

      1. Yes! I like that too!
And in my kitchen tea and vitamin cupboard – for years I had three things hanging on the inside cabinet door
And the one from son 2 was a simple drawing similar to this one

I only recently took them down after about 17 years!
I kept them in a book

      2. Well the little piece of paper with his drawing was put up and only meant to stay for a little while (because as you know – we end up having so many worksheets – poems – drawings – stories – etc

And so it ended up staying that long because I liked how those three looked and often became blind to it while getting tea and or coffee – ha!

      3. Well I saved way too much and I can’t remember how they felt about us tossing it.
And I still have some scrapbooks to sort and go thru
I have done it twice and someone told me that it is easier to do when the kids are older – I found that t be true

And so math worksheets and some “fill in the Blanks” kind of work were easy to get rid of – but the keepers were unique ones like you showed here.

When I went Thru my younger son’s high school stuff (that he was not into keeping because he is a minimalist)
Well I took photos of what I could – tossed some and kept some things that I think he might really value 25 years from now!
So I’ll Han on to until then!
        Ha!
        Okay
Enough from me- and what a fun topic – custom work from our children

    1. I’ll let her know! Thank you. Her aspiration is to become an artist like her cousins; twins who are both at Rhode Island School of Design. She wanted to try her hand at glass drawing with marker pens.
Guess what that board is?Old fridge shelf. They’re all in good shape so repurposed for art activities.

      1. We have 5 or 6 of those slides…good for drawing or dissecting. I wish I were more handy with tools because a small plastic piece pokes out on both sides. How do I saw that off without an electrical tool?!
I hope to help her as much as I can.

      2. Yes, good for drawing – dissecting too (ugh). I think of the frog and fetal pig from middle school. I think a nail file might smooth down any sharp pieces of plastic but to saw it off I’m not sure. Do you have an Ace Hardware – I think they are nationwide. Our Ace Hardware people tout how helpful their workers are (I have two nearby and I’ll vouch for that – and women are at the help desk and men come to ask questions and they always know what product, size, etc. and go and get it for you). I know you will help her.

      3. We have Ace hardware here too. I should go and ask for help instead of diy and get myself injured. lol. Home Depot and Lowes are also popular in CA.
I love it when stores have knowledgeable salespeople to help out with questions. Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ll need to make a trip soon for a larger planter for my ZZ. It’s surprising how well it’s growing, and the surprising thing is that there are no holes for draining. Must replace it soon.

      4. This one Ace has been there for years, a mom-and-pop Ace and they have retired and the new owners kept the same women … they are awesome. I would try Ace first. I had a guy in the paint department at Lowes spent 1/2 hour with me picking caulking supplies – very helpful, but they are usually so busy all the time.

      5. You should go during the week if you’re able to – less people. I try to do that, grocery shopping too. I am still trying to avoid crowds due to Covid and now this flu which they say will be bad this year.

      6. I don’t know how we’re doing on COVID…there’s no consistency on masking. I’m not hearing too much about new COVID infections, but is that the media downplaying it?! And oh my, the flu season. Let’s stay well this season. We’ve been doing so good so far.
