First video post: Elliot’s recording of ducklings

On Saturday afternoon, we took a walk on a short trail. The rain had made the grasses green and flowers bloom, so a walking trail that used to be brown and dry turned lush. There used to be a small pond with ducks but that was years ago.

We walked around the trail and found some interesting flowers, a tangled branch bush, and a ladybug larvae. A random cat sat on the path where Ellis is standing below, but once it heard us, it ran into the bushes.

That was all we expected to see until we discovered a creek over to the side strewn with white rocks along the water. This was over the side that was separated by a pile of sandbags, probably left over from when we had heavy rainfall. Then, out of the corner of our eyes, we saw a mama duck with 9 ducklings. You should have seen our surprise at this discovery!

Mama duck noticed us and slowly began pattering away with her ducklings. We followed nearby and saw the cute little fuzzballs. Here is a video that Elliot took of the ducklings and I hope you enjoy it!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. I like how you described them: “little bundles of fluff.” I wanted to pick one up and feel the fluff in my hands. So cute.
We are always delightfully surprised by our nature walks and how everyone is in a better mood afterwards, Nature has a healing effect on us!

    1. It was a fun nature walk. Like I commented earlier, we began with little expectations of this walk. However, we were surprised with how much discoveries we made. Nature is full of surprises.
I’ll let Elliot know. Thank you!

    1. The water seemed shallow and where we stood, it was a rocky pave way.
Thanks Linda, I’ll tell Elliot! I post a lot of stuff that Ellis does and I wanted to give him some blog space too. He seems very pleased with it!

      1. I’ve never done a video and I still have to refresh my memory on all I read about using it … I would like to take some gosling videos for my blog … I hope to be as good as Elliot on your phone. (That’s a good idea re: the creativity.)

      2. Linda, you should try the video! Something different to try.
Elliot read your comment and was very happy! I’m happy to share my blog space with kiddos’ works…it makes them feel connected to it and they know you and recognize the other bloggers I connect with often.

      3. I had thought about trying it this weekend … I have another 5K virtual event this Sunday. I have to read up on the instructions again Esther as I forgot everything I read over Thanksgiving weekend. I intended to use it the following weekend – that was the weekend of the fire. That’s nice – I’m glad Elliot like my comment – he did do a great job!
