Flower of the Day: May 1, 2021

These pictures were taken Thursday morning after a much-needed haircut. The salon scheduled me for an 8 a.m. appointment, which surprised me. Had no idea they opened this early…maybe it’s COVID-19 hours. Nonetheless, it was refreshing to feel the morning sunshine by myself (big deal for a night owl).

Fifteen minutes after I got home, my cell phone rang with our home phone number. Ellis on the line asking, “where are you?” We had talked about this morning appointment for few days but she was not happy. I fibbed that I was almost home as I jumped into the room to surprise her: we were both on phones. I thought she’d laugh but her face was already red from crying. That’s a story for another day: separation anxiety since she was weeks old.

I realized my alone time was over: shifting back to mommy role but with shorter tamed hair.

Thank you Cee for hosting this challenge & keeping us updated on all the challenges!

Thank you readers for stopping by. Hope you all have a good start to May and alllergies are under control.

CitySonnet. Goodbye August: August 31, 2019

I’ll miss summer afternoons and evenings the most. There’s something lovely about the days staying light till late evening: the warmth, the afternoon glow, and spontaneous strolls. This is our first summer since Ellis’ birth that we’ve had many playdates and outings. Sure we’re still overly vigilant about germs, but she is

When I became a new mom, someone told me to enjoy summers with your kids, because time passes quickly. Parents get to spend about 18 summers with kids before they go to college or embark on other adventures.

It’s hard to savor this time when you’re exhausted from raising kids, yet I understand how I’ll miss being in this season of life with them. The best is that they still love to cuddle, take bunch of silly selfies with you, and tag along everywhere you go.

Summertime is always the best of what might be.
