Summer glee. 2021

Summer is lovely: the mild evening breeze, longer sunlight hours, bright colors, impromptu plans, vacations, staycations, and finally respite from schoolyear cares. Summer afternoons are dreamy at best.

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.”

Charles Bowden

Today’s afternoon nature finds: a neighbor friend heard chirping sounds and discovered a nest inhabited by 3 baby birds. Ingenious mommy bird for securing this nesting spot. A ladybug spotting as well.

“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”

Maud Hart Lovelace

Thank you readers for stopping by and have a great Thursday evening! Hope you enjoy the simple pleasures of summer and take a moment to not do anything.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

  1. Summer is lovely (even if we started outs about 3-4 weeks early) … there is nothing beats the colors of Summer though, from the blooms to the produce at the farm market, or, if you’re lucky in your garden plot. How sweet to see the baby birds. I missed that at the Park where I walk daily. The tree cutters came last Fall and were unforgiving … they pruned every tree (more like chopped without a thought as to how it looked) and all the low-hanging branches where the Mama Robins built their nests were/are all gone. I was bummed about that for sure. I have through the years photographed them from the Mama sitting on the nest, to the hatching, then fledging. Sigh.

  2. Love the quote (sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside) and then that golden yellow in the photo to follow – and of course the little hatchlngs and the child looking into the bush

    1. Thank you Yvette! I love that sunshine quote too…it sounded like a line from “The Great Gatsby.” Love how some people can bring words together into a beautiful image. Appreciate your analysis and feedback of my photo posts. Very helpful in learning how to improve as a photographer.
