My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
Well that is exciting to see those tiny seedlings. We did that in class in sixth grade and one kid brought in grass seed and planted it. All our little pots were lined up on the window sill and his sprouted in days and he confessed it was regular old grass seed.
It’s always fun to see them grow. Your comment reminded me of the time when kids took a botany class for kindergarten. They planted grass seeds or wheatgrass in egg shells and decorated it with a face. When the grass grew, they tied it and then gave it a haircut. That may be a fun activity to do with the kids again. Redoing these lessons now that they’re older is better. We get more out of it!
That sounds fun and it would be like a Chia Pet. Do you remember them – are they still a thing? (I answered my own question – they are available on Amazon). There used to be one that was a man with wild hair and it was the plant growing from his “scalp”.
I remember the jingle too! I looked it up on Amazon and they have a whole assortment of them: animals to Bob Ross to emoji faces to Star Wars. I guess they’re still very popular.
I hesitate to show the kids: before we know it, we’ll probably be growing a chia pet and you’ll see a pic of it on my blog. Lol.
I never had a Chia pet but they looked fun. Maybe it would be fun for the kids to grow a couple of them or one for Mom and the kids to watch and learn. 🙂
Maybe so! The most popular one seems to be a hedgehog one; had the most reviews.
When the summer gets boring, we may have to invest in one. Right now, we’re trying to grow our peas, daisies, poppies, peppers, and basil.
