Idaho treats from a blogger friend

Even though we live in separate states and know each other in the blogging sphere only, I feel a special connection with Heavenstobetty, who is also a Christian homeschooling mama. She encourages me so much when life gets crazy and overwhelming.

They’re an avid reading family and, on her blog, she occasionally lists books her kiddos have read, which I use for reading suggestions too. It’s great to share ideas together, and I learn a lot from her adventures and travels with her family. Check her blog to meet her and find out more!

Today we received a special care package from her. She sent us Idaho treats that are new to us: Idaho spuds candy bar, Wild Idaho Huckleberry Taffy, and butterfly gummy bears. Please thank the kiddos for their wonderful cards as well. 🙂

Heavenstobetty, I’m so glad we became friends and our kiddos are getting familiar with each other. Thank you for thinking of us and sharing these Idaho goodies. We’ll eat them once this Covid is over in our home and we can taste better soon. Hope your move to Nevada is going smoothly and you find enriching and happy adventures in your new place! 😊

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Thank you Jo! It’s a fun thing to do and to watch them grow. Our pea seed shot up like an inch overnight. We’ll soon have to transplant it to a pot. On the YouTube channel it recommended peeling off the remaining egg shells before planting it in the soil.
This is my upteenth spring trying container gardening. I’m really hoping to have some stick around longer than late May or June.
Hope you are well! We’re recovering and doing so much better than last week.

  1. How thoughtful of your friend and fellow blogger. Many years ago, friends of the family visited Idaho and brought our family back a chocolate potato – it had the indentations and everything – a fun and tasty souvenir.

      1. Yes, like a potato – it was a very fun souvenir. I wonder how long before you get your taste back? I remember my mailman telling me one time that he never knew he had Covid until he couldn’t taste anything as they kept mentioning how that was a symptom … he was young and healthy and he said that was the only symptom he ever had.

      2. It seems symptoms range for different people. Some people get hit hard with it while others just have mild cold like symptoms. Mine was the former. It was also compounded with the stress that Ellis may get really sick; kept pressuring myself to get better fast so I could be available for emergencies. That did nothing, because Covid has a mind of its own and is taking its sweet ol’ time leaving my system. But did you know that you can take an antiviral within the first few days of getting Covid to minimize the symptoms. I had no idea until days later. Doctor said that it wouldn’t help me much at that point. Just keep that in mind…I pray you never get it, but that’s something to remember.

      3. I think I did know there was something you could take but I don’t have a GP so unless I went to urgent care or a hospital, I would be out of luck. You had a lot going on with Chris’ accident, your sudden onset of symptoms compounded with worries about Ellis … a triple whammy, so no wonder Covid lingers on.

      4. You are so right about the triple whammy. I feel a lot of desperation and fear when Ellis gets sick, and I’m ready to take on the challenge of hospital things for her. But with my covid condition, I couldn’t muster up the strength nor the adrenaline to get going. That feeling of helplessness scared me.
Yes, keep that in mind. Paxlovid; its generic names are nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. Check out this article. https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/13-things-to-know-paxlovid-covid-19

      5. Thank you for this info Esther – I have tucked it away and hope I don’t need it. I have heard several names, but didn’t know which one was “the cure/fix” for Covid. Yes, you never know how good you feel on a “good and normal day” – even the common cold can sometimes level you temporarily.

      6. You don’t mess around with the small stuff. Well they say that everyone would get it sooner or later … I wonder what the stats are on the “haves” and the “have nots”??

      7. Whatever the stats are, try not to get it!! Doctor told us that it’s so much better that we had gotten all our vaccines, at least that helps if you get Covid. It would’ve been bad if we caught it in the earlier days of pre-vaccine.

      8. Yes, thank goodness for the vaccine(s). I just heard this morning, that they are beginning to try and determine what strains to make for the Fall Covid shot. I thought a Fall Covid shot was just a suggestion for an annual shot and didn’t realize they had a plan.
