I saw this plant a few weeks ago and posted it for my FOTD. I found it again in San Diego except this plant was full of flowers with cascading leaves. Its scientific name is Lycianthes rantonnetti originating from South America.
According to Gardenia.net, the flower color is described as purple-blue, and this plant works well as a shrub, hedge plant, patio container plant, or a climber. After the blooms fall off, red berries will grow (toxic if consumed however) if it is not pruned. The yellow star shaped center contrasts the purplish petals nicely. This plant also won a “prestigious award” called Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Thank you Cee for hosting and hope you are having a great first week of November.
Thank you readers for stopping by and I appreciate you all! Sometimes I feel blah and don’t want to post, but knowing that I have a supportive and creative community here to share my nature photos brings me joy. Thank you for that. 🙂 Esther

Purple and gold is one of my favorite autumn combinations, and this is a lovely example!
Linda, I like your color word better: “gold” rather than yellow. Nice!
Thank you for stopping by. We got a bit of heavy rain in San Jose this morning! This may help with preventing future wildfires. Hope Texas is getting some moisture too!
Beautiful fl0wers for today 😀
Thank you Cee!
