Overlooking the bay from third floor of Monterey Bay Aquarium, we saw an amazing sight of sea otters. They had stationary binoculars but the shorter ones were monopolized, so we moved down to another level to see.
I just learned that a group of them on water is called a raft; a group of them on land is called a romp.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!
So cute 🦦 ❤️

Thank you so much for the crystal science kit! You are so thoughtful! My kiddos are So Excited! It’s absolutely perfect to tie in with our read aloud “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne. I literally have that exact kit sitting in my Amazon cart. You read my mind! 🪨 🧪 💎🔬

You’re welcome!! I’m so glad you like it and that you can use it for your next lesson.
We also received your Valentine’s package. Thank you!! I sent you an email a few days ago but I’m not sure if you received it.
I really like your reading lists, so I’m gonna check out the Jules Verne book. “My Side of the Mountain” was awesome.

You’re welcome! It’s a fabulous aquarium with so much to see and do. They have live cams to see some of the exhibits online.
I love the old town charm of this area.

They’re so cute hanging out together like that! If the staff didn’t tell us, we would not have known.

I’ve never seen one. A romp would be great fun!

It would be! They are playful and fantastic swimmers. And baby otters are so fuzzy and cute.

They are really cute Esther. That’s something to see so many of them. I am fascinated how they come up with the names of groups of animals and it is interesting how animals or birds can have a different name for in the air, on/in the water and on land.

I didn’t know that was a thing until the otters! Interesting stuff to learn and it’s much easier to remember since we got to learn at the aquarium. Info sticks better in those situations!

Yes, there are so many of those names, some which are really off the wall and yes, easy to remember as you were right there.

It’d be great to go on many fieldtrips and learn from those experiences! Even better would be a road trip. lol. I’ll keep dreaming.

Yes, dream on Esther. I had planned to travel when I retire (whenever that will be), but I am uneasy about that thought. Cruise ships have norovirus to contend with … not around when I traveled and was on a cruise ship, but here in Michigan a school closed down the other day as norovirus sickened half of an elementary school. Thankfully you don’t have to contend with the kids bringing home viruses (not that you don’t have enough worries).
