I found this great propagation idea from a popular Instagram account called creative_explained. Following his instructions, I randomly made small openings with a box cutter around the bottle and stuck succulent leaves in them and filled a quarter of the water bottle with water. In a few days, these succulent leaves will sprout roots. I’m presuming the water on the bottle provides humidity inside the capped water bottle?
As you can see from the picture, I got overly excited and even stuck in other succulent roots, not leaves, that have been showing signs of poor growth.

I hope so!! I used to be a black thumb but that’s been slowly improving. I gained my confidence from propagating pothos and aloe.
With the exception of my succulent all my plants are doing well. Turns out that the vast majority of my plants are actually tropicals. My cacti are all getting new growth but no my succulent. However the one baby that had grown that I snipped off and gave to my girl friend is doing amazing for her. 🙂
I hate it when the succulents don’t make it. I have a few that decided to shed its leaves and limp over. Don’t lose heart about that…try another succulent! They’re really fun to grow.

Try a Jade plant! They’re hardy and you can propagate the stems.

It’s been a few days, but I don’t see any roots yet. I wonder how many days it takes.

So far, I see only one stringy root on the Jade leaf. I need patience with these things…I check many times a day to see if any new growths appear. To answer your question…yes, once they grow roots, I will replant them!!
