Nice to see Dart out and about!
I am curious – so you put the leaves in the cart and the glass container in the middle of it to shoot the photo? I know you’d worry he’d run away if you put him on the grass. He is happy to be out and about on what looks to be a sunny Fall day.
We put Dart in the glass bowl with the crochet blanket that Ellis made him. She was nervous that this desert animal would suffer from a cold if out for too long. The bowl was then put into the wagon and pulled by one of us.
Dart seemed overwhelmed with the new environment and dared not move when we put him on the bed of leaves! Both kids were protesting that Dart might catch a parasite, and I had to put him back into the bowl right away. I still got some photos!
Contrary to his name, he does not Dart but walks around, stopping here and there for long periods of time. When you hold him, he squirms.
I’m glad that Linda asked and glad that you gave us the background to the photos.
Like your kids, the first thing that I thought was “Oh no, I sure hope that my Darling Dart isn’t allergic to leaves like I am.”
I am sure Darling Dart appreciates the sweet blankets, though.

I don’t think Dart is allergic to leaves, more like frightened to be on something crunchy and lumpy. He had his head stretched to see what was going on while he was in the wagon, but the glass bowl was clunking with each bump on the road, so Elliot carried the bowl to save his noggin’ from all the shaking he did from the sidewalk road.
Not to worry, Darling Dart got an extra heater for the cooler weather and fresh crickets. I think the extra warmth got his digestion moving, because he finally pooped. lol
When I saw the cart I had to ask as I was thinking you would not turn him loose in the yard as he might take off. I was going to remark that it might be one of Ellis’ crocheted creations. I think you were thinking “Dart” for a name from when you initially picked him up – didn’t he run up someone arm or hand that first time? Probably scared of being touched.
Dart does walk up human’s shirts and arms, but that’s about it. When we put him on a table, he has no regard for his safety and will walk off the table to the carpeted floor. He looks shocked for a seconds and keeps walking, to who knows where. Contrary to his name, not fast. He needs to be tong-fed his mealworms and crickets, because he can’t catch his prey and they’ll run away and hide. sigh…he’s a slow gecko (don’t tell him I told you).
Ellis crocheted him that blanket a while back and we wrapped him up in it like a burrito.
Here I pictured him running around his terrarium quickly and very animated. I remember he was climbing up a green plant once very quickly and it surprised you. Ha ha – I won’t tell Dart you said that. I went to visit friends of the family in Puerto Rico once and they lived in an apartment building. In front of the building was a huge bush on either side of the entrance and all the lizards would hang out in the bush and lived inside it I guess, but they would come out onto the sidewalk to sun themselves and if they caught sight of a human, they’d run very fast for safety, into the bush. I guess that’s why I thought Dart was quick. I remember now you said about the green blanket and the burrito and she made a green crocheted item for Elliot too.

He barely moved in his new environment! Maybe he would’ve if the kids let him explore a bit, but they were nervous that he would get a parasite from the leaves. So back he went in in less than a minute.
