My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

I’m trusting the process. It’s been a while since I’ve intentionally sat down and read the Bible. There are Bibles literally in every room of our house, but they collect dust over the days and weeks that they go untouched.

Since the start of this semester, I’ve had some time to sit at Starbucks and read my Bible while kids are in a class across the street. I wonder what I’ll get from reading and whether my heart will be softened by His words.

I trust the process that He works everyday in the quiet corners of my heart. I know He does, so why does it surprise me when I see Him moving in my life. This is time to quiet the soul. So I’ll just stay faithful and keep reading in faith.

Have a great start to a new week!

Great job incorporating Bible reading into your routine! Yes, trust the process!

Thank you, friend! I’m trying to trust the process and have confidence that I’m learning and applying what I read. Must trust the process, but it seems so slow. But I realize God works in mysterious ways and His timing is never early nor too late.

I hope that you found comfort, Esther, within your reading while your children were at school.

Thanks, TD! I get an hour to myself and this is when I go to the coffee shop to read the Bible. Doing so in a different environment is refreshing.

An hour to one’s self is a luxury for people with children! Whatever you choose to do with that hour is all yours!!

When Yorkie settles into her noon nap, I too feel it is my luxury hour!

I hear you! We all need that luxury hour to just be quiet and not to be bothered with needs of others.

It’s a good time to read the Bible while your children are at school because you don’t have to worry about them or take care of their immediate needs.

I don’t get that much time to myself because we homeschool. But now that they’re older they take classes and I get an hour break here and there. It makes a huge difference than when I had to attend to all of their needs! Independence has been good for all of us.

Yes, it’s good for all of you, Esther! When they get older and study various subjects, it’s good for sometime also to teach when they’ve been teaching for a long time. ☺️

Hi Esther, earlier this year I realized how much I needed to get back into the bible reading too.
I listen to chirstina music all the time and pray all the time – but my bible reading got sidelined as I was so busy with so much life stuff! So! I made some note cards to memorize a few verses on my walk…
and here is my most special verse from summer 2025:
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ?” Matthew 6: 26-27

also,…. I just got a recording of the NT in audio format and that has been helpful for me to get more into “the word”

thanks for sharing this post – it inspired me today

Thank you so much for sharing those 2 verses and saying my post inspired you! That is such an encouragement to me.
I am the same…I know I should read the Bible and then the time passes and I don’t do it. I like the idea of memorizing verses on note cards.

Amen! Gotta trust God and believe that the time spent studying His word is purposeful.

Esther, you’ve had a whirlwind Summer … lots of doctor appointments, plus acclimating Teddy to his environment and working with the kids on Teddy and 4-H projects, so you can cut yourself some slack now and enjoy your Bible studies once again along with your favorite brew.

I only get an hour on Mondays and that’s been a nice time for me to spend alone. Although I could keep busy doing errands or what not, I felt that reading the BIble was a better way to spend my time.
Last summer was busier than I imagined. I’m happy that we are in the routine of the schoolyear and entering autumn season next week. I love summer but I look forward to a new season too with all the goodness it brings.
