My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
You’ve changed your theme/layout! I like it. And I like the happy smiling faces too. Wishing you all a happy, but most importantly, healthy New Year xx
Thank you, Jo! I’m glad you like my new layout and the smiles.
It’s been quite a crazy few months but December has been so good to us. Praise the Lordf!
I hope you all have a lovely and healthy and happy new year. 🙂
Thank you! I was thinking about you guys so much while we were there. It’s a fun place.
It was our first time riding a carousel, and I was lucky to get all 4 of us in that 1 pic. But you can imagine how my peeps were groaning that I was taking so many pics because of the blurry factor. Yet they were happy with the results later. hmph…that’s how it goes as a family photographer.
I hope you can get a good pic next time! The lights on it are so pretty. Thank you!!
That looks like fun! Almost everyone is smiling – tell Ellis she has a nice smile and should smile more. Elliot finally is smiling – must have been getting those braces off. Is Ellis still planning on getting braces? (I know that is the least of your worries.)
It was an unexpected night of fun at this theme park. It was really nice of Gilroy Gardens to donate tickets to 4-H volunteers and their families, so we got to go for free. We thought it was just a light event thing like the Oakland Zoo we went too in November, but there were rides too. Whoa…the mushroom spin ride on swings was intense…just spinning!
The whole saga with Ellis getting braces is still ongoing. She still hasn’t lost all her baby teeth! Elliot’s orthodontist is thankfully conservative about his treatment and will wait for her teeth to fall out in time. We can’t take any aggressive measures like putting her under to extract baby teeth cause we don’t want to unnecessarily stress out her heart. She feels insecure about her smile, but we will have to wait for the perfect timing. Yea, you’re right! It’s the least of our worries now. You know us so well!
I remember you said before that the orthodontist would have nature take its course rather than do extractions. I got my braces on as an adult and he had to pull two upper molars as he said my wisdom teeth would eventually come in and take their place. Then I just got my braces off and a few months later my bottom wisdom teeth came in so I had to have them removed quickly to not shift any teeth. It was a pain to be sure. Tell Ellis it doesn’t matter, just to smile. My mom didn’t drive so she couldn’t take me to the orthodontist and my father didn’t want to take time off work, so once I had a car and could fit it in my college schedule, I went and got braces.
Thank you, Leanne! It was a fun time to be out at night and do something that you regularly would do during the day. Thankfully, the weather was mild with no rain.

Oh, that looks like so much family fun!!
Thank you, Liz! It was a lot of fun and the line for the rides were nonexistent since it was the evening. Ended the night with warm churros.
You’re welcome, Esther! I love churros.
That’s such a good carousel picture! I can never get those to turn out! Great job! 🥰

Looks like fun times. I hope you had a great holiday with your family Esther.
