My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

It’s hard to believe that 2025 is almost over and we start a brand new year! Time flies. I remember sitting in front of my computer in early January of this year trying to learn photoshop. That was my goal for the year, but that resolution dwindled as the moths passed and other things took priority.

This year has been full of blessings and challenges, as it has been for every other year. This year, Elliot finished 8th grade and moved onto high school (still homeschooling), we added Teddy (a then 4-month old Holland Lop) to our family, celebrated my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary, went to Hawaii for a family vacation, took an international trip with the family to Korea (and all went well on the trip despite my relentless worrying), 4 hospital trips for Ellis thereafter, survived the first semester of high school albeit with some growing pains and tears, and a whole bunch of other things in between. This is minor but I am growing out my hair, which I haven’t done in over 12 years.

Even though there were moments when life felt overwhelming, God comforted me and gave me supernatural strength to push through my adversities. I’m getting older, but I feel more comfortable in my skin than I did when I was younger. I feel more emotionally stable yet the body is doing its own thing and I don’t know why but I tend to make groaning sounds when I sit or stand. Ha! I used to make fun of my mom and now here I am doing the same thing.

I wanted to come here and thank you all for being here and for journeying through life with us this year again! I am super grateful for all your support, humor, laughs, and comments. Even though I know you by your blogs, it feels like we’ve been old friends. You all have a special place in my heart and in my family. When I share a comment that was shared on my blog, my family wants to know who said it and they recognize the person by their blog name. And for all the new subscribers, thank you for taking the time to visit and read!

In my first few years of blogging, I got caught up with gaining new followers and would get upset when the numbers didn’t grow. But after years of blogging, I realize that that number is just a number and that the most important thing is the community I have with those who I interact with. I’ve definitely matured and see the bigger picture.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and blessed new year!! God bless you all and thank you again.

That’s a nice compilation of photos Esther. You have too much going on to have to sit and focus on learning Photoshop. Those are nice sentiments. When I began blogging in 2013, I had only five e-mail subscribers, none of them bloggers. We share a lot here on our blogs and some of you feel like family.

Happy & Healthy New Year to you and your family, Esther! Your positive spirits shines out and helps you all. I love your words about the community here on WP and how true that it is about the richness of the friendships instead of the number – yours words resonate deeply with me. Happy Blogging & Connecting in 2026.
