Flower of the Day: May 1, 2021

These pictures were taken Thursday morning after a much-needed haircut. The salon scheduled me for an 8 a.m. appointment, which surprised me. Had no idea they opened this early…maybe it’s COVID-19 hours. Nonetheless, it was refreshing to feel the morning sunshine by myself (big deal for a night owl).

Fifteen minutes after I got home, my cell phone rang with our home phone number. Ellis on the line asking, “where are you?” We had talked about this morning appointment for few days but she was not happy. I fibbed that I was almost home as I jumped into the room to surprise her: we were both on phones. I thought she’d laugh but her face was already red from crying. That’s a story for another day: separation anxiety since she was weeks old.

I realized my alone time was over: shifting back to mommy role but with shorter tamed hair.

Thank you Cee for hosting this challenge & keeping us updated on all the challenges!

Thank you readers for stopping by. Hope you all have a good start to May and alllergies are under control.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Alone time is special and necessary for each and one of us! It’s true: carving personal time is a balancing act. God helps me out when I feel overly tired with unexpected times of rest. Thank goodness God knows and sends mercies!

  1. This reminds me that I’m in desperate need of a haircut. I’ll try and call the salon this week, hoping to get an appointment later than 8 am!

    1. Sorry for my very late reply! There’s something about this semester that I can’t articulate: restlessness, busyness, motivation issues. Maybe cause the kids are getting older and they can make so many excuses to not do lessons.
Girl, I hope you made that call and got a haircut! It’s refreshing and self-image boosting. Yes, 8 a.m. was much too early.
Have a great weekend and hope your end of the semester is wrapping up nicely! Our last LR meeting is coming up this week.

  2. These flowers are so Spring-y looking and such beautiful colors Esther. I’ve not had my hair cut or highlighted since October 2019. My hair cutting skills have not been great and I have long layers in my hair which I’m not messing with them, just nips on the bottom. I understand from a woman walker at the Park, that the salon where we both go can only accommodate one person at a time. It’s a small place, very unique looking and set up to look like rather country-looking. It is owned by a husband and wife and they still are not permitted to have both of them be in the shop at the same time. As of today, I am now considered fully vaccinated, so I guess I’ll make a decision on a return there soon.
