FOTD: Purple leaf sand cherry tree 3-7-’22

Picked branch set against a green shrub.

These blooms are making a dramatic appearance with spring approaching in 2 weeks. Dark purple foliage makes a nice contrast with the delicate blooms.

Did you know that birds feast on this trees’ small berries? Jam could also be made with those berries too, but the picking process seems tedious when they are this tiny. Maybe they get larger as the weather warms.

The petals float and fall to the ground with a small breeze or movement to its branches: I call it spring snow.

Thanks Cee for hosting this challenge and thank you readers for stopping by! Have a blessed and happy start to a new week.

      1. Well I think they’ll have me three days this week, today, Wednesday and Thursday. The rest of the time will rain and a wintry mix on Saturday. I totally give up on this weather … Spring is Sunday, so hope is on the horizon.
