sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Last week we took a field trip to Roaring Camp and a hike around the redwood forest at Henry Cowell Park.

It was refreshing to be out and do something different. The month of October has been one of the worst months for us with 2 trips to SoCal and dealing with my mom’s illness. I didn’t expect to go, but our homeschooling teacher nudged us to go and enjoy a day out with some activities offered at Roaring Camp, like square dancing, train ride, gold panning, candle making, and pumpkin decorating.

We made a day out of it and Chris took the day off from work to take us. It was a great day to be out in nature, heal our wearied minds, and have the kids try some new experiences.

Life needs to go on. I’m glad you had this terrific get-away!

You and your family so deserved this little getaway Esther and I’m glad Chris could get away too. It looks like a lot of fun in the Fall, my favorite season. That tree is so tall – is it a Redwood tree? Are my eyes deceiving me or has Ellis grown an inch or two taller over the Summer? She does appear to be dwarfed by that big tree though. 🙂 The pumpkins sure are cute.

I’m so glad you were able to have a fun family day out! Has Ellis had another growth spurt?
