Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Hi Linda, Ellis is doing good after surgery! We just came down to the regular unit Friday afternoon after being in the ICU. It’s been a painful recovery and lots of tears from Ellis everyday. Each day has its agenda of removing chest tubes, pain management, iv lines. I’m one pooped out mama from erratic sleep and being at her beck and call.
Many good things too! Hard to focus on that when I just want to sleep in my own bed. In the big scheme of things, minor inconveniences. Ack, this human condition for the familiar.
I’ll write more later but I wanted to let you know we’re on our way to a solid recovery! Thank you Linda for checking in and so appreciate your ❤️, kindness, prayers, and sweet thoughts. Hugs from hospital room…

      1. Thanks for the update Esther … I was worried and knew you likely would not post an update … so decided to reach out here. Poor Ellis, poor you – hope she returns home soon? Hang in there – hugs to you and Ellis … oh heck, the whole family!

      2. Hope to get discharged today or tomorrow. Recovery is good but l heart rhythm is a new issue: guess it happens frequently with heart surgery.
Trying to stay grateful and positive…another day or two won’t kill us. Better to stay safe. Can’t imagine doing an emergency run once we go home.
I’m not doing so shabby today. Stay supply of coffee and coloring with Ellis.

      3. I’m glad we connected … tell Ellis I’m thinking about her and coloring is fun and means she feels better. Elliot with his antibiotic regimen for bug bites. I’d have never made it as a mom – good thing I had parakeets and canaries. 🙂 A great Father’s Day present for Chris if Ellis comes home, but I get it … Hang in there kiddo.

      4. She smiled when I read her your message! Beginning of the week I was juggling way too much and couldn’t believe how a bug bite could get infected needing treatment. I made it and here I am sitting in the hospital room sipping my iced coffee in a quiet moment. I hope the mad rush is over, and we can go home soon. Elliot has been tearful with all the disruptions. Chris is good, holding up the fort and helping is keep it all together. We will hang in there!!! Hugs from CA…

  1. You and Chris got it covered … stress with a capital “S” … I just sent a get well card for Ellis to your G-mail address. Hope she likes it – bears of course. 🙂 And I included Elliot in case you want to show him later when you’re home. I can send a separate one for Elliot too if you’d like. Hugs back!

    1. Yes, capital “S” and many exclamation marks.
We’ll check out the card soon. I don’t have access to it on my phone and my computer is at home. Thank you!! I know she’s going to love it.
I’m so glad you mentioned. If you don’t mind, Elliot would love his own card. He naturally gets overshadowed in these experiences and extra care does his soul good. They would love to hear from aunt Linda!

      1. Yes, I do – me too. Just sent one to you for Elliot. I should have sent it to myself, then given you the link for while you’re at the hospital.

      2. I just sent one to you and Ellis (but to myself) so you can open it. The other two you can open when home – they are bears. So this will be in a separate comment in case it goes to SPAM. I will put it in the next comment in one second.
