Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

      1. Squirrel whisperer you are. We always think of you when we see squirrels. The CA ones are aggressive and have little fear of people. It’s that time of year when they abound the park and dig holes everywhere. Thankfully they haven’t touched my aloe plants. But they chomped off the new growths of my wildflower plants when they first sprouted.

      2. As much as I like squirrels, they can be destructive. I’ve had AT&T to the house three times for them chewing on the wires. The landline reception gets fuzzy, then totally goes. I think I am the only person with an AT&T landline on the street so no one else complains but me. People use cellphones or have their phone thru their cable provider. When I was feeding the squirrels up until the hawks got them and my neighbor didn’t tell me a hawk was preying on them, I’d find the peanuts I gave them buried in the yard – dirt or mulch flipped out, peanut in there instead. The black squirrels got into my grandmother’s attic in Toronto and made a lot of damage.

      3. Nope, you’re not the only person with a landline. I got one too. It surprises people, but I find such comfort in having one. lol
Squirrels are cute but they do have that destructive side, especially in autumn months. Dugged out holes everywhere.
I would never want to see a hawk grab a squirrel. Hope your squirrel pals are safe this coming season…I know you take good care of them and try your best to keep them away from preying winged animals.

      4. It is really better to have a landline because for any emergency, not only medical, but fire, crime, etc., if you contact 911, they cannot trace your location via the cellphone right away and valuable time is lost. I had considered getting rid of it when Robb retires, but hesitate to do so. My landline bill goes up all the time and it is between $65.00 to $67.00 and I took off long distance and interzone calls. I have caller I.D. as I get a ton of junk calls. I think that ups the bill as well.

      5. I’m all for landlines! If it makes you happy and feel safe, you should keep it even after Robb retires (is that your boss?). Something about that land line that I can’t give up either. Old school. People are amazed when they find out we have one. I can’t imagine not having one.

  1. Too much craziness in the world today – I read the headlines around the world, the state and lately our city and it makes me sad. Right now, for the last five hours, there has been a barricaded gunmen holed up in a hotel in Downtown Dearborn, a place I often go. You go out of the house and wonder if you will return in one piece.

      1. Yes, I was in Dearborn today at a park and they had a 5K to benefit police officers. I didn’t know about it (had I known I would not have gone as I am avoiding crowds due to COVID), but they had a very large police presence of uniformed officers, not just ones participating in the 5K. It happened to be three days after this barricaded gunmen situation, just a couple of blocks away. They charged him today – killed the desk clerk and terrorized two hotel workers by pointing a long gun at him. The world is nuts!
