sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Very cool to see a woodpecker’s home and love the overall photo with the branches and leaves and tan thick trunk

Can you imagine my surprise when I saw a woodpecker’s home and it’s perfectly visible?! I thought they just pecked trunks and didn’t know they made a home inside. Two woodpeckers took turns flying in and out. Thank you for your keen observation of my photo!

I can imagine your surprise and your share here reminded me f another reason why I live blogging – we get to see things like that I might not ever see in person!

Very cool find for you and the kids Esther. Woodpeckers are destructive. There is an old, long-dead tree at the Park. I don’t know if Rex, the Red-bellied woodpecker decimated it or it was already a goner, but the amount of holes in it just blows me away.

I didn’t think that they could be destructive…but you’re right. If they keep pecking those holes, that could bring down a tree quickly. We don’t see too many woodpeckers here except at some parks. I’ll tell them about this destructive nature of woodpeckers. I remember the tree stump from one of your photos; chomped away by the beavers!!

I looked for the woodpecker photos – every key word did not bring up that post. It was a bright-blue sky and I had several shots of the woodpecker drilling its beak into the dead tree – hundreds of holes. Wish I could find it. I didn’t start tagging things until two or three years ago, if that long. The beavers’ destruction at the Marsh just blew me away – very destructive and big trees too!

I remember the beaver photos from your blog! Who knew they could cause so much damage in so little time?! They don’t stop for anyone.

I just stood there is disbelief Esther. They are not huge critters and to fell huge trees like that – amazing.
