My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well! It’s been quite a week for me, and the exhaustion and stress caught up with me. It’s the flu. Chris got it first, and inevitably I got it. Thankfully, the kiddos are not showing any symptoms.

We weathered this week well, but life throws us curve balls. On a horrible rainstorm on Tuesday in the bay area, Chris’ car spun in the rain and hit the freeway divider.

Praise the Lord that it was a solo accident, and he walked away unharmed. The tires and the car body damages are severe.

The side airbags deployed, and he waited outside for hours drenched in the rain while the tow truck came and police reports made. Thankfully, a kind lady pulled over and let him make necessary phone calls in her car, out of the rain. So grateful for random acts of kindness!

I was doing fine till then, but last night, my throat felt like fire and it came with a pounding headache. Without cough drops, I felt miserable. Fortunately, a neighbor brought me hers. Thank you V for that and for picking up liquid Nyquil for me! Local Target was all sold out.

My brain is feeling zapped! I’ll be back in a few days healthier and happier. Take care and have a great start to the weekend. 😃 Esther

Esther, So very sorry it has been such a week, but grateful that Chris is in one piece! The flu is hard any time, but when you have children….but then I don’t need to tell you. Please know you are in my prayers.Love,Fran

Thank you Fran!! We are so grateful that Chris didn’t get hurt in the accident. He said it was a split second thing where his car slid and spinned. According to the pictures, there’s a dent on every side of the car. Eek. Just happy he’s safe. Now we got this Covid to contend with… but we are managing, with God’s grace! Thank you Fran. Love hearing from you.

Sending good wishes – I hope you feel better soon. Even more, I hope the kids don’t come down with your affliction, and that you can sort out all the after effects from the accident soon.

Thank you Linda!! Kids were doing fine at first, but then they got Covid. Ack! I guess it’s inevitable when 1 person in the family gets it, everyone else catches it. It’s a quiet household though… not the endless chatter like usual.

Thank you Sherry!! I had an inkling it might be Covid but after I read your comment I decided to test. So thank you for being the impetus to that!!

That must have been scary for Chris! Thank goodness he’s ok. Rest up as best as you can and hopefully you’ll soon be good as new.

Esther, I am so sorry about Chris’ accident but so very glad he did not get hurt. Please take it easy while you recover. (Whoa, did that sound too motherly? 😁) Praying for you,

Hi Pepper, thank you!! I love the motherly sound of the comment. So sweet and kind of you.

Oh my – poor Chris … thankfully he is okay after what sounds like a horrible accident in such bad weather that we keep hearing about. Then the flu on top of it. I hope you both are soon feeling better … glad the kiddos didn’t get sick. Take care Esther.

Thanks Linda!! It was the bad weather where many trees fell and killed people. The accident was scary but so grateful that it was only the car that was damaged and no other cars involved.
We’re all on the road to recovery. Less severe coughing from everyone and since we all got the Covid, we’re not masking up at home. That was hard to do.
You stay well too! Hope spring weather pops in for you soon and you can enjoy your walks without worrying about slippery roads.

You’re welcome Esther – you guys need a break, but yes, good that you all have it and can breathe a little easier going forward, though I’d still stay masked up, but the fear of getting Covid diminishes a little with your newfound immunity. Giving you a positive outlook … lemonade from lemons kind of thing here. I peeked at today’s post … I was caught up in Reader as of Sunday and yesterday, but won’t be tonight. We are having snow flurries tomorrow – silly weather. You hold the fort down there Esther and plan something nice for the family when you’re all feeling 100% again.

Ugh. Feel better soon! And praise God for Chris’s guardian angels! How terrifying!

Thank you friend!! What a wild adventure. It really was a miracle that he was walked away unscathed from the accident. PTL, is all I can say!!
BTW, your other comment somehow got deleted as I was about to reply to it…not wearing my glasses so I probably pressed some random key on my computer. Thank you for your comment on that one too!
