My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Looks like fun seeing the Koala bears! I like the key chains. I’m glad you thought of these for letter K. I wish I had, because I have a lot of them I’ve collected over the years. 🙂

I saw Koalas at the Toledo Zoo – unfortunately they were all sleeping every time we went to see them. Their handler said the eucalyptus leaves they eat are mostly water so they don’t get much sustenance.

This was the first time we saw active koalas at the zoo. I wonder if it was the later time of the day… we went for summer late hours.
I wonder what they eat for sustenance then. I thought their food source was eucalyptus leaves like pandas eat bamboo shoots and leaves.

Their handler told us they sleep most of the day since the eucalyptus leaves were mostly water. I gather that is there only diet. Pandas eating bamboo shoots … they would be mostly water too or are they different and more nutritious? Maybe the leaves help. Pandas always look so energetic – I’ve never seen one, even the Red Pandas.

Pandas are so cute to see! When the pandas were at SD Zoo a few years ago, there was a long line to see them. They’re not there anymore: they have a red panda though, which recently jumped out of its habitat into a nearby one.
Your question is a great science investigation for us! Thank you, Aunt Linda, for another idea in the summer afar program. 🙂
