Our new leopard gecko!

Me and my tankmates at PetSmart. I’m the one in the center. Humans came back for me.
I’m in that box! The boy is holding the live crickets in the plastic bag and a cricket critter box where the crickets will live. That’s my food stuff!
I’m home!
My new abode. Checking out the rooms.
I approve.
Hello, singlikewildflowers’ readers! My name is still under discussion; once it’s decided, I’ll let you know.
I’m new to this 20-gallon tank. It’s plush and comfortable. I have 3 hides, a heating mat, UVB lamp, water, and food.
I was fed live crickets upon arrival. My new friends are making a big deal trying to accommodate my needs, so here I am smiling for the camera.
Just licking my lips. I’ve been licking the carpet and my new home. Not sure why I do that, but it makes me feel safe.
This morning, the humans took me out of the tank and practiced how to handle me. But I’m fast and I have a tendency to dart forward. That shocked them a bit. I’m still a baby, 2 months old, so watch out for my speed.
The little one decided to handle me. She’s gentle but squirmy.
I got startled by 3 people staring at me. Plus, I’m sleepy because I sleep during the day. That could be why I tinkled on the older boys’ hands and table.  Ooops!
Mission accomplished. Back in my comfort zone: under the log on the far left. Thanks for reading, dear readers, and nice to meet you all.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. It’s got a great smile! It surprises us too. Since everything is new to it at its new home, not much going on except for eating and lounging in one of the hides. It’s a great hunter though when he pounces on the crickets.
Thank you for your vote and comment!!

  1. Ha ha – very clever how you did this post Esther. You said in an earlier post last week that Chris wasn’t enthused about getting a gecko – is he feeling more warm and fuzzy toward it now?

    1. Thank you, Linda! I wanted to use the pictures and it seemed like a fun post to do. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Makes me happy!!
Chris consented but not with glee and total excitement. However, if he really didn’t want it, we probably wouldn’t have gotten it. He’s happy the kids are happy and excited about their new pet. I don’t think he’ll join us in feeding it live crickets though. lol

      1. Chris probably made a concession also knowing the kids wanted a dog and that was a no-go, so this pet won’t shed … just don’t lose him in the house. 🙂 My neighbor Marge bought a hamster and put it in the cage and her granddaughter came over and wanted to play with it and it ran away and they never found it. (Hmm.) I don’t blame Chris. I thought it was very clever. You had very fun pictures to match with captions. I like doing that, especially for Wordless Wednesday.

      2. Oh my, so it’s true that you can lose a small pet at home. Chris warned us not to let the gecko loose or else we’ll never find it. Now that you mention Marge, ok, I’ll take that to heart.
Thank you, Linda! I’m so glad you liked that post.

      3. OK, I kind of thought a lease may not work … I didn’t know if it would “make a run for it” under a couch, a bed, behind the stove or fridge. 🙂

    1. Lots of fun but hard work. Feeding it live crickets covered in calcium is tedious; I was literally sweating today from that task We all three had a job to do while feeding, so the crickets dont’ jump out of the tank.

  2. Ohhh
This gave me goosebumps for a reason.

    What a interesting new friend.

Does he/she eats anything else? I wonder how getting crickets will be possible all the time.

How huge do they grow? Would be scary if they suddenly grow to the size of komoda dragon 😛

    Dart forward hmmmm 🤭
