Dry ice 🧊 experiment with daddy

When you rub warm metal on dry ice: vibration causes the sound when the metal touches the dry ice. If you touch the dry ice continuously with the metal, it’ll get too cold and will stop making that screeching noise.
Double gloved to handle the dry ice. Dry ice is extremely cold and should not be touched with bare hands; it could lead to a burn, kill skin cells, or lead to a frostbite.
Added water to dry ice in a cup. Fogging up. Dry ice goes from solid to gas form. It does not melt. Dry ice is actually a solid block of carbon dioxide.
You can hear it bubbling. (Ellis couldn’t stop herself from video bombing with her foot :/ )

P.S. Please do not try this experiment without taking certain safety precautions since mishandling could lead to burns and dry ice could explode if not disposed of carefully. Nervous Nellie here.

    1. Hi Lakshmi, it would be fine to share! Thank you. But this experiment can lead to skin burns, so it should not be done without taking full precautions. Just wanted to let you know for safety reasons. πŸ™‚

  1. I still remember the day — decades ago — when a crazy friend decided to freak out the hospital staff by dropping a bit into a toilet. I don’t remember who the friend was, why he/she was in the hospital, or even which hospital it was, but I do remember the effect! All things considered, I must have still been in high school. If dry ice has been used in shipping, just set it in a safe area outdoors and let it evaporate.

  2. Interesting and at first I thought it was blood on the gloves ’til I realized it was the vinyl red that are on those types of garden gloves. πŸ™‚
