My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

When we visited a farm last Saturday, we saw a herd of goats eating hay at different feeding stations, sunbathing, or coming up to visitors for extra hay or pets. From the five goats in this spacious pen, two similar-sized ones had power struggles.

At one point, they got up on their hind legs and rammed their heads together; they did this a couple of times. I was watching in amazement that I missed the opportunity to take a picture of this.

However, in the picture below, you will see the two combative goats meeting up again for a face off with head butts and pushing. The goat in the middle was probably used to this, because it just sat there minding its own business. Everyone leaves the stage as the only horned goat makes its appearance, which you can see in the video below. We added dramatic music to match the mood.

The fight ensues
What is going on with these two goats?? It was like watching a dramatic scene at the movies, except it was on a farm.

Some great shots – Headbutting is normal in herds of goats it establishes dominance which sets the ranks within the herd, young goats seem to play by head butting. I expect also a learning thing. I the wild the steps would be rock piles.

Looks like a power play to me. The music you picked for the video is perfect. 😊

The music adds a touch of drama to the goat drama … I’ve been to the Petting Farm at Heritage Park and no head butting there but they were screaming … goats are loud when they scream at humans!

I love how their tails wag as they fight.

I didn’t know they did! I’ll have to pay attention next time. It’s interesting to learn about animal behavior from other people too.

That’s a fun video with a perfect score. The music you chose really sets the mood well!

I was sampling some music and the one I chose was perfect for the goat’s head butting. I’m so glad you like it!
