My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
Yes very cool the way the gills fanned out like that. All that rain I’m hearing about in So Cal, I hope it doesn’t affect you and cause any damage. We get mushrooms with the white tops pop up overnight in the Summer when it’s so humid. I swear they double in size (width and height) overnight!
The rains will bring on some pretty blooms in the spring! It’s been raining on and off.
Socal is getting lots of rain, as my mom tell me. Norcal is going to get more too; this is where I live. Chris and Elliot just got back from their church youth retreat, and they got heavy rains up in the mountains. So glad no one got a cold.
Mushrooms are amazing to see sprout here and there!! I would never consume wild ones, but they look plump and tasty, just as the ones you see in the store.
I want to find tiny ones this winter!
Yes, it will be like that year when it rained so much after the drought and brought mountains filled with wildflowers. I always forget you live in the north. Yes, good thing Chris and Elliot didn’t get sick in the damp weather. End this year on a good note please!
We ended on a good note, but then Elliot got sick on New Year’s day. lol. What the heck? Thank goodness this was a quick bug and he’s on the mend already. I hope he doesn’t start coughing.
Happy new year, Ju-Lyn!! I found this by our church parking lot on a rainy day. They blended in with the fallen leaves and grass, so I didn’t notice them right away. But they are real beauties!

Its gills are fanned out like an open book!
Isn’t that wild?! We found this on a grassy area by church. Maybe it was the recent rains.

I love the treasures we spot when we take the time to look. You and the children are excellent spotters of beauties & oddities!
Creepy!
But a great pic
They sprouted up in this one area!
