sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

This tree trunk’s roots have been growing elaborately and large over the years. I wonder how far they will grow before they take over the sidewalk.
Tree-trunk walking. We walk by these trees all the time, and I can’t remember if they are the same one as the picture above or a different one since there a few large trees like this on the street.

Yes, Ellis is happy and well these days! Thank the Lord, we need a break from all the craziness that happened from November to January.
Hope you are doing well! It’s been raining furiously in CA these days. SoCal will get heavy rain tomorrow.

Nice Walking on tree trunk roots Elliot. Amazing tree roots. Very useful information of tree roots spread calculation.

    Tack care my best friend!

Yes walking on tree roots is fun for kids. Not for me though! I’m glad you found the illustration helpful. You take care too!

We recently had to have a large tree cut down because, like the picture you posted shows, the roots spread far and wide underground. The roots of this particular tree were going to destroy the leech line pipe. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Those are amazing stats Esther. Be careful walking on them when it’s wet as they are likely slippery. We have some monstrous roots at the Park under the Safe Haven Tree and I always have to watch where I step, especially when there is snow.

Your observations are right! It was slippery and Elliot almost slipped on it. But he was able to catch himself, so no harm done. They are deceivingly slippery, especially the top edges. Please be careful on your walks!!

I know, at the Park I have to go under the tree and when wet or snowy, it is slick.

Seeing these 2 after a while!!

    They have similar shoes.

How is Little E doing now?

    What about Jr E?

They’ve been out of commission for a while. January till mid Feb. Were rough for us as they both got bronchitis. It just felt nonstop with how often they got sick.
Both are well! Yes, they got similar rain boots. I tried regular rain boots, but couldn’t find matchy ones for them. This one had good traction. They still like to match… don’t know how long that will last.

I think for few more years 😆

      2. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Yea! It’s cute how they still like to match.

I used to walk/balance on tree roots like these when I was growing up! There was a little park near our home and there was a huge (well, it seemed huge at the time) tree with spreading roots like this. It was so much fun for my sister and I. I think we used to play catch around the tree too – there was a great deal of tripping.

The roots seem to call out for the passer bys to take a walk on them! Kids slip but it doesn’t deter them. I think it’s a childhood thing…just like you did as a child.
I don’t dare…I slipped and fell a few years ago on a rock at a beach, and that has discouraged me from walking on slippery surfaces.
I had a large goose egg on my head from that fall. The egg was like the ones you see in the cartoons!!
