My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
Same here! It’s such a happy succulent. I’d love to have this in my garden…just big bouquets of happiness and cheerfulness. I’m a huge fan of succulents since I have better luck with them than flowers. My other favorites: aloe vera, jade, zz, and pothos.
How are your plants doing?
I somehow managed to mostly kill my ferns š¤Ø
Two of my aloe plants just randomly sprang out babies. I keep trimming and rooting my Pothos fairly successfully! I have another succulent thatās doing well. A few of my repotted baby aloe from last year didnāt make it. I need to spend some time repotting things to make the display look better.
My outdoor āgardenā consists of rosemary, mint, and oregano. š
It makes me do a double turn. I first saw this kind of succulent in Huntington Beach and San Diego and now that it was on my radar, I notice it now. I wish I had this succulent on my porch…it’s like a big bouquet.
If my grandmother saw that succulent, she’d pinch it and take a “slip” – I think I’ve mentioned what a green thumb she had. She would take a slip (whether she asked or not), put it in water and it’d grow. I don’t know if that works with cacti, probably just seeds. You and Ellis should see if you can get seeds for it. It can overwinter in your house, even though you don’t get that cold. But if it’s in a pot, you can move it out of a torrential rain..
lol…that’s funny about your grandmother! She was just helping nature bloom by propagating those beauties.
Somehow in our community park, we saw a mustard plant blooming right by a tree. So we shook the plant to blow the seeds around. lol. I hope we see more of them where we live although I know the gardeners will pull them out quickly.
Yes, she was funny – we always took her to a nursery so she could “browse” … my mom would say “Mum, browse all you want but I will check your purse for Baggies and a wet Kleenex before we go into the store.” My house looks a bit forlorn – I’m sorry the landscape guy didn’t contact me, especially since it took me all Winter to decide to get the butterfly garden where the fire burned all my back garden. Then I just said “this weather prediction for the Summer is hot, hot and more hot, so I’m not messing with it.” Today we have had almost two inches of rain, torrential rain, with more on the way (at least another inch).
Michigan has wild weather!! And no more fires…you need peace of mind. That reminds me that the rambunctious 4th of July fireworks will be popping up in your neighborhood soon. Oh yikes…I hope your neighbors take it easy this year.
Yes, we do Esther and I am loathing all of it. Finally, we are at the end of this heat wave and volatile weather and Monday is a normal Summer day, then Tuesday/Wednesday, we’re back to volatile weather again – it’s crazy and scary. I’m already worrying about errant fireworks and annoyed about the noise. A new neighbor moved in behind me last year. The past two Saturday nights they had parties lasting way into the night. I went to bed after 1:00 a.m. and could still hear thump, thump, thump of loud music (rap – ugh) and loud voices. I figure no one complained about the late-night parties a week ago so they figure it’s okay, despite a noise ordinance that goes from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. If I called the police, they would shut them down, but then would they retaliate? I have no words for the world these days.

Very unique – it makes you say “a cactus or a flower???”
