These prickly beauties were found near the entrance at the Mission of San Juan Capistrano. Flowers blooming from a cactus seem like an oxymoron (am I using the word correctly here?) but they make a splendid sight.

Thank you, Cee, for hosting this FOTD! I hope your physical therapy is going well and you make a full recovery soon. Please take care and sending you hugs!!
Thank you, dear readers, for stopping by. Always a lovely pleasure to have you visit. Have a wonderful rest of the day and take care. š Esther

Ooo, they are pretty!
And it was well tended to at this place. It must be wonderful to see it at full bloom.
Pretty flowers! Cactus flowers still seem very exotic to me.
I agree!
You got some great colors! Lovely į
Thank you, Cindy! Have you been to the Mission at San Juan Capistrano? I don’t think it’s too far a drive San Diego..
Prickly beauty š«¢
Very well articulated!
How pretty and the mini cacti with their flowers remind me of a foot with toes. š
You’re absolutely right!! They are cute.
Very pretty. I see you were at San Juan Capistrano. Were the swallows there? Did you get to see them?
Thank you, Linda! I did not see the swallows, but if I did, I probably didn’t know. sigh…I know. Still learning about birds. Yes, they are famous for the swallows and their gift wrapping and many items at the shop had swallow images on them. Have you been there?
No, I’ve never been. Even though I lived in the Bay Area for three years, all of my time was limited to northern California. I think the farthest south I got was Palo Alto!
Beautiful! I love prickly pear! We were delighted to purchase prickly pear flavored jelly beans at Saguaro National Park this past March!
Thank you! This was one of the few times I saw flowers blooming on it and it was amazing to see. But you mean to tell me there is a prickly pear flavored jelly that can be made from prickly pear plants? I had no idea something like that existed. Very cool.
