Suspecting pneumonia from the chest x-ray, Elliot was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon. But at 9 p.m. the doctor rechecked him and said that it was bronchitis.
I’ve never been overjoyed to hear that it is bronchitis! He’s still coughing, feeling weak, has a headache & sore throat. Treatment includes iv, Tylenol, and breathing treatments.
Hoping it’s a short stay and we go home soon.
Ellis is at home and staying strong through this experience. She and I had our first night without each other, and that came with a lot of tears from the little one. She couldn’t even visit her brother in the room because of possibly infecting her.

Esther these are testing times for you and your family but if you keep your hearts focused on Jesus everything will work out. Please pray over every situation and read from the Bible together if you can. God is awesome and can turn any situation for good. Just think about all Jesus’ miracles. I’m praying for you all. Hang in there!
Amen! Must trust Jesus for it all. It’s crazy how trials come upon suddenly. And I believe God can turn any situation into good…He’s that kind of good God.

Thanks so much, Stephen! Prayers are welcome. It’s been a rough two weeks with one kid after another getting sick. We’re dealing with pneumonia here and breathing treatments every four hours at home. Yep, it’s a lot of work, but it beats staying in the hospital. God is good! Even when I am overwhelmed, I get some nice moments of rest. Thank you again!
I’m glad Elliot didn’t get anything serious. Bronchitis can be treated successfully.
Elliot tends to get bronchitis whenever he catches a cold. It starts with a scratchy throat and all goes downhill from there. According to the x-ray, it was determined to be pneumonia, so he’s taking antibiotics for that. Monday will be his 6th day of antibiotics…hope it does its wonders soon. Ack, what a week!

I got bronchitis last winter, the first time in my life. I used two or three kinds of inhalers. It’s gloomy and chilly here in the winter. I’m okay right now in the middle of summer. I how Elliot will keep better with antibiotics.
Bronchitis is pretty tough on the respiratory system. It is no fun…I hope you stay clear from that this coming winter.
Pneumonia is difficult even for a healthy kid like Elliot. Ellis stays away in another room and Elliot only stays in his zone except to go to the bathroom. Antibiotic are helping but it’s taking it’s sweet ol’ time.

Thank you! It was an overnight stay and I’m so glad that it wasn’t a longer stay. I’ve been taking Ellis to the hospital every few weeks this summer and when Elliot went down, I felt overwhelmed. I’m getting back on my normal track again…and can you believe summer vacation is over now?!

Yes, summer vacation is officially over. However, with my son still sick from pneumonia, we’re starting fresh next week. Hopefully, he’ll be back on the healthy track by then.

I’m kind of glad they admitted Elliot in order to keep a close eye on his condition. Hope by now he is feeling better and can rest some. I’m sure Ellis missed both of y’all over night, but Dad took care of everything. <3
You’re right. I am grateful that he was admitted and was given iv antibiotics right away. Wednesday was the worst day for him and I was in shock to take Elliot to the hospital for once. It was overwhelming to be honest.
Yes, Ellis was a brave girl and totally did great although she did shed some tears that night and the next day.

I’m sorry too! I thought we were going to have the best of the last week of summer vacation. Yikes. This has been quite an eventful summer for us.

Well, I am glad they admitted Elliott so it did not blossom into something worse at home and have Ellis catch it … I hope he is feeling better now and you’re both at home with Ellis and Chris. (Reprieve from starting school for a couple of weeks – darn!)
We went for our second follow up the doctor on Monday and Wednesday. Whew…it’s been quite the challenge to keep up with all the breathing treatments, antibiotics, Tylenol for fever, measuring oxygen. Ack! Ellis is in another room and spending all her time there and using a different bathroom. We’re really taking strict precautions since I can’t imagine how Ellis would do with pneumonia. I am tired but I’m glad I still have the strength to caretake. I may collapse later!
School is getting pushed off to next week. Whew…what a crazy start to the school year.

That sounds rigorous Esther! I don’t know how you do it quite honestly. I hope Elliot is on the mend and I’m glad you have separate accommodations for Ellis to keep her out of Elliot’s “space”. COVID cases are on the rise here and likely across the U.S. – they are saying it is because of the extreme heat, so people are congregating inside like they do in the cold weather. The El Nino, as well as climate change, is not doing us any favors. Time to get flu shots soon. Stay well and healthy too!

We have both been sick too. Bloody diarrhea again for Lucy and vertigo again for me. I understand how overwhelmingly exhausting it is to be the care taker and the cheerleader. I have been thinking about you. I certainly hope that you will not get sick too.Thank you for your reply. ā¤ļø

Why is your vertigo occurring?
I have no idea why!
I think that the vertigo is a symptom of a sinus infection. And I think that I might be having a sinus infection from raking a giant bag of oak leaves in my front yard on Wednesday, might be allergies to oak trees. Itās a theory. Tussin Guifen Expecterant will help drain my sinuses, but Iām out of that right now. I have to wait till I can get to the store to see if that will help me.
The vet doesnāt know what is causing Yorkieās bloody diarrhea either, but she responds well to an antibiotic medication that I keep in supply for her as needed. She is recovering.
Whew, glad to hear that there is medication to help with your vertigo and antibiotic medication for Lucy. Thank goodness for medication and for knowing what to take when these symptoms appear.
