My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

RSV. What a day! Both of us were pooped out waiting to hear what the course of action was with the discrepancy in test results and x-ray readings. I’m just extremely thankful it’s over, and we can treat the symptoms at home. Oxygen saturation is still low, but doctors think it’s ok for now since she has rsv. It’s not dropping below 90.

Ellis is relieved to be home after crying multiple times today. Its hard to be back in the hospital and to get her hopes up and then dashed every time the doctor comes in with news. She’s now drinking warm water, being waited on hand and foot by Chris, and lounging in her little cozy spot on the couch. I’m going to do nothing for the next few hours.

Great news – I hopped on here to see if you guys made it home … keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as Mama makes lots of soup for the kiddos and treats too (okay, maybe not brownies) but something to get thru these trying times. Chris is a lifesaver, Papa Bear taking care of his family.

Thank you, Linda! I’ve been cooking a lot but now I’m sick too with the dreadful coughs.
Chris is sick too. Lol. Only Elliot is the healthy one in the family for now. Tough season.

Oh no – all the warriors are down and only the original warrior has come back. Elliot has his hands full – yikes! I do hope that Dart and Diamond were spared. Take care.

Linda, sorry I am so late to reply to this comment! I read it right after you commented and Ellis and I had a great chuckle over it. We did feel like warriors and it was so validating to hear that. lol. Thank you for that great smile and comfort!!

I’m glad to give you all a much-needed smile. I just pictured everyone sitting on the couch, side-by-side, feeling crummy … (Elliot with his nebulizer, Ellis with her box of tissues in her lap and eating chicken noodle soup, you taking your temperature and couching your head off and Chris slumped over, weary from taking care of everyone, then getting sick himself.

Yay! Time to rest up at home. Nothing like sleeping in the comfort of your own bed.

Hi Jo! I know what you mean. So much has been going on. Ellis caught the cold/ flu from her brother and she started getting funky Saturday night. That progressed into what seemed like the start of cyclic vomiting, so she took her rescue med. Well, her cough and symptoms got worse and when I took her to the pediatrician’s office yesterday morning, he oxygen saturation was 90-91 and she tested negative for covid, flu, rhinovirus, and strep. Went to get a chest x ray at one hospital and the reading indicated that she had pneumonia. So we went to her usual hospital for her cardiac needs to the Stanford ER. As protocol, each hospital does their own testing and x rays. Their swab testing showed positive for RSV and x ray showed no indication of pneumonia. Ack!
Discrepancy in test results at different hospitals and Ellis just coughing like a wheezing machine all day while we were there. Even though saturation is low, cardiologist mentioned that it’s ok for now with her respiratory symptoms.
Wasn’t that a crazy adventure at the hospital?!
So that’s all that happened and we are now recovering and trying to get over the sickness. I am sick too but it got shocked out of me yesterday. Lol. Today it’s hitting me.
I hope you have flu free and healthy!! It’s draining.
I hope my explanation helps with understanding all that happened.i can see why it would’ve been confusing with my picture posts.

I wasn’t familiar with RSV, Esther. Lucky me, hey? Thanks for the full explanation. I don’t always have time to read the posts and things happen so fast with your youngsters. Wishing you a restful, easy weekend.

I hear you…so much transpired in the last couple of days. It was my pleasure to keep you updated!
Oh, yes, please don’t make acquaintances with RSV…it’s very unpleasant and uncomfortable. I’m sick too but it got shocked out of me since I had to take care of Ellis. I’m lagging but still making way towards recovery. Mama’s life!

This has seemed like a long week, Esther. I’m sorry that both of your children are struggling with illness. With Elliot coughing and using a breathing device, I thought he might have RSV. It seems that you might not know.

While Ellis needed to take meds for vomiting, it seemed to help. Yet Ellis still had to go to the hospital for tests. It does feel confusing when the tests don’t match up and doctors may have different opinions from what they can see as results. And that’s hard on trying to determine how to proceed. Nerve wracking!

Ellis’s RSV test was positive which explains the low oxygen level.

Bravo to you, Esther for making it through it all! Much needed rest for your family the remaining and weekend. This too shall pass… and life’s good, fun, and beautiful are just ahead of us. Take care of yourself and each other.

TD, it’s been a wild ride! So yes, you are right. I suspect Elliot had RSV. It was strange how I didn’t take him to the pediatrician’s office this time. He was sick but handling it all. Ellis was holding up well too and I was relieved that we might avoid any doctor intervention this time. I spoke too soon!!

Hope you and Lucy are well!! Darling Dart is doing good too although he hasn’t been able to take time off his busy schedule for a quick photo opp and interview of his daily life briefing. Nonetheless, he is doing well and just shed and is 8 inches long. He sends his “hellos,” hat tipping to his beloved friends. ❤️

Thank you for your sweet and thoughtful encouragement! Makes such a difference in my mental health and happiness.
I’m getting the effects of yesterday and have been taking it easy. Restlessness and general unease set on after an upheaval day, so I know it’s coming and I need to just ride with it. Not a fun time but that’s how emotions go for me. Must keep the faith strong so I don’t get bent under the weight of depression that seems to hit me at low times.
