My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Sugar high to keep you going … I love Nature’s Bakery.

Sugar and caffeine highs! There’s a kiosk cafe right by the ER entrance, so it was quick to pick up some snacks before entering the er area. Thankfully, Ellis wasn’t throwing up and had got a nebulizer treatment beforehand, so I was comfortable to spend a few minutes at the cafe with her.
The Nature Bakery figs are delicious! I might have to get a box of those figs from Costco.

Try the Brownies – I get the fudgy kind because I like they are individually wrapped. They are fairly new – I’ve been buying the other ones as a treat for a while now. I follow them on social media (Twitter/X) and they had pumpkin in the Fall and also Brownie Salted Caramel – neither were found at my grocery store (probably just as well).

Oh, the brownies sound good! We’ve been eating so much brownies at home as Ellis has been testing out the recipe for her Favorite Food Day evaluation. It’s this Saturday and we got the whole plate setting, menu, and recipe card together. I’ll take a picture of it and post it soon.

I always loved brownies, but I don’t bake, so this is the next best thing. Yes, do post about the brownies. Lent is coming up soon – all we will see around here on local social media is about paczki (pronounced “poonch-key”) which are huge jelly- or custard-filled yeast donuts with icing or powdered sugar. They are twice as fattening as regular jelly donuts. But people eat them on Fat Tuesday … we have a large Polish community near Detroit that are famous for their paczkis.

Those donuts sound delightful and too delicious! Maybe just eat 1.

That’s true. We used to get them back in the day. The Boston-Creme ones were very good too, but the jelly-filled ones are most popular. Once my mom’s birthday was on Fat Tuesday and a friend of the family went to a Polish bakery for their own Paczkis and bought her a dozen and brought them to the house. We froze the rest of them as we always gave up sweets for Lent – so Easter Sunday my mom took some out and put them on a plate over the furnace register to thaw out. 🙂
