sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

My goodness! I’ve never heard of this tradition. The cascarones are rather like small, individual piñatas. I don’t think I’d like the perfumes, but I’m down with the confetti!

I’m down with the confetti too, but the perfumes would be too much. With all the different perfumes used, I’d have a lingering headache until the next egg cracking party. lol

This is a new one on me!

Or maybe not. I did read Two Years before the Mast many years ago.

I found this egg artifact at Monterey Bay at the Custom House. It is the oldest government building in CA.

        Interesting!

What a unique custom – well, better than hiding them, especially when a lot of effort is put into making these eggs.

It’ll be a fun activity to decorate them with friends! But I wonder how delicate you had to be in handling them since they were empty eggs.

      1. Linda Schaub Avatar

They are probably very fragile – that would be the biggest problem if you’re not a person with a light touch. 🙂

I’m one of those clumsy people…they probably would not want me on the egg decorating committee. lol

      3. Linda Schaub Avatar

That would be me too Esther. Anything that’s done in the kitchen is not my strongpoint!

Sounds like a fun thing to do and a fun icebreaker! lol
I was thinking about you last weekend when we went down to Monterey for an overnight visit. I found this egg thing at the Custom House Museum on the Old Fisherman’s Wharf. I wonder if you ever visited this house!

We have been to the custom house! We’re hoping to schedule a trip to Monterey in the fall… mid September… I’ll keep you posted when we book dates! I want to visit the aquarium, it’s been a few years since we’ve been there.

Tell me about it! People cracking eggs on heads. Thank goodness there empty egg shells or else it would’ve been heck of a mess to clean up.

It sounds like fun! But it sounds like a lot of work to decorate it and then to just smash it later.

I’ve never been cascaróned—but maybe it’s time I cascaróned someone I love. Happy Easter!

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

That would be fun to do! Make sure you have a handy vacuum around to get all the confetti.
Hope you had a Happy Easter!!
