My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
You’re right…they are not cheap! I remember Costco used to sell gift cards for a discount. We did that once. I’m glad my kids are over the build a bears for space and wallet reasons.
we went to a few birthday parties there back in the mid 2000’s – I had boys and these parties were usually hosted by girls… and the most memorable one was the time Donna P. invited us for her daughter, J’s, bday – and guess what? When we got there she said she’d pay for everyone’s bear but parents could buy the outfits. What? Thankfully I had enough $ at the time (because there were seasons when that would not have been doable for us as we mostly lived on one income – so I was super grateful we had enough) but it was kinda tacky.
Wow, that was so generous of the parents! It gets pricey to get the bear and outfits all at once. Expect to fork out some money for those things. I didn’t know that bears needed a cowboy hat, bunny shoes, dragon wings, sunglasses, etc. One time we even got a recorded thing in one of the bears. Geesh, happy that phase is over.
Glad you had enough money at the time to make it special for your kiddos!
Yes. 🙂 Maybe it is seasonal allergies for Chris? Pollen season for many states is worse this year. Even me, who has gotten shots for years and years and I take Alavert (OTC 24-hour with zero side effects) still sneeze. And I always wear a mask – hopefully it’s not the dust in the house (bad housekeeper as you know).
Oh my, is pollen worse this year?! Yikes. This is not good news for Elliot.
Do you have an air purifier at home? That may help with dust allergies. I just got a small one from Amazon to have in our living room where Teddy is.
Pollen is supposed to be worse this year – I don’t remember why, maybe the late Spring? I see pictures of it in the Southern states with all the yellow pollen from the trees? Do you have that too Esther? No, I have not used an air purifier before – I hope it helps with Chris’ allergies.
I don’t know about yellow pollen…we get white ones from the trees (but I’m not sure at all what it looks like?)
We first got the air purifier when the wildfires were blazing near us a few years back. The air quality was terrible with the sky grey and orange for days. Since then, we just use it because it makes us feel like the air is cleaner. Here is the link to the little one we got recently for Teddy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9678Z4L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
Thanks for the link Esther. Did you get the extended warranty for it too? We are experiencing some haze from the Canadian wildfires and it is not problematic yet, just a gray sky for now, but maybe tomorrow might be worrisome to those with asthma.
I didn’t get the extended warranty. It seems to be working well for us so far, and it’s very quiet too. Small but powerful. After 2000 hours, you have to replace the filter, which is about $15.
Okay, thank you – I usually don’t get an extended warranty, though I need to decide on this laptop as it runs out on July 5th. But, it’s a three-year warranty ($134.00; $145.00 with tax). I have never gotten a laptop warranty on my prior HP laptops and never had problems with them, but after this buggy Microsoft update, I am still dwelling on it.
Well I was on the phone with them for two hours this morning … I wanted the three-year warranty and yesterday was the last day to sign up and they only offered the one year … with the three-year, one year is free. What a hullabaloo and I never got an extended warranty before since I never had issues with HP laptops at all. Not me, or the hardware, it’s the pesky updates. Years ago, the Dell desktop did the Service Pak2 update and it crashed beyond repair (per Geek Squad when I called them in to repair it).
You’ve been spending so many hours on the phone these days with the computer people!! I’d be so frustrated. I hope the people helping you were at least pleasant and helpful.
I had some trouble understanding the one, but the second one was better. I think everything is working fine now – I turned off updates so nothing happens for awhile to monitor it. I check every day for updates – whether the shield on the update icon has a message, but I turned off auto-install. I think it doesn’t matter and Microsoft is able to install it anyway. Grrrr!

ahaa – I like both pair – but the hearts are my fav
The heart glasses are from a build a bear doll! Teddy is so tiny it fits him.
oh that is fun – we used to like build a bear parties
Build a bear is a fun store and so many characters to explore! My kids were huge fans back then.
yeah- and I do remember it was super expensive

Thank you! Teddy has been trying on a lot of our doll accessories.
So funny! xx
Thank you! Happy to give you a smile.
Now he just needs to put his cup–I mean hat back on and he’ll be all set!
Yes, he has many different sized cup hats! lol
I see a career in Hollywood for this bonny bunny!
He’s waiting for an agent!
Teddy is so cute and stylish. 😊
Thank you! He doesn’t mind the camera and will allow us to play with him like this, although he nipped my belly today when he was being held.
Teddy is definitely charming all the ladies here on your blog. 🙂
He has charisma! hehehe
Thank you. We just got a small air purifier to place by Teddy’s cage, because Chris’ allergy is acting up. eeek.

I can see why! You’ve been having lots of issues and can understand why you would consider it.

You are becoming a pro at this! Not out of choice though…you are navigating it well!!
Thank you – I am glad you can’t hear my comments though as I am navigating through. 🙂
