Our charter school hosted an 8th grade promotion event. We were surprised at the number of students who were getting promoted and the long line of parents and friends waiting to get into the civic center. We expected maybe 50-100 students, but 300 was completely unexpected!
It was a fun celebration to get dressed up and highlight this moment together. Elliot was stressed out since he didn’t know many kids, except some kids he met through online classes and in online testing. He said his mind was so focused on getting up onto the stage without tripping that he didn’t hear us whistling and yelling out his name. It’s ok, because I recorded it and he saw it later!
It was a milestone for our family because we doubted ourselves through the years and experienced growing pains about homeschooling. Yet we’re going to continue homeschooling through high school! We can’t imagine schooling any other way for us.
It is an amazing testament of God’s goodness and mercy that we were able to do this. I never would have chosen this schooling option if it wasn’t Ellis’ condition that made it necessary. While I didn’t know it, God had different and better plans for our family, and we’re not regretting this choice at all.
p.s. thank you to all our friends for your texts, visits, and gifts for Elliot’s big day! So excited to see our kids grow and mature together in this new season of life. Also, thank you to my blogging friends for your support and encouragement through the years! Having a place to share has done wonders for my soul.

Thank you! We will do some catch up work, but we’re taking this week off!!
🙂
Wooh. Congratulations 👏
So pretty looking pictures.
Thank you!!
Most welcome !
Congratulations for the graduate! 🙂
Thank you!!
🤗🤩🙌🏼💛 congrats!! 🥳
Thank you!!
I love that first photo of Elliot. He looks far more adult than an 8th grade graduate: professional and casually sophisticated. Give him my congratulations, and take a few for yourselves!
Thank you so much!! It was a family effort, indeed.
HIs suit attire is a big difference from his usual t-shirt and shorts look. He was nervous about attending his first homeschool event with kids he’d never met, but it was a good experience for all of us.
A HUGE congratulations to Elliot (and his teacher, of course!)!!
Thank you so much!! We made it through all these years…and now onto high school.
You’re welcome!
Much applause for the graduate and you too. Elliot looks so distinguished in his suit … what a great family picture as well. I like this picture of father and son as Elliot displays his diploma and a SMILE.
Thank you, Linda!! It took me so much time to get all the stuff ready: getting his pants hemmed, new shoes, new shirt, and Ellis’ outfit, and ironing.
It was an experience for us, because it was the first charter school event we attended. lol. I guess that’s the homeschooling life.
That’s exciting – next up is Ellis … lots of excitement and now it is the end of the school year and a whole Summer ahead, a little break before school starts up again … you all deserve a break.
Ellis gets it easier because now she knows what to expect. Elliot has to try things first…that’s what happens when you’re the oldest kid.
I’m so excited for summer break and o take some time away from lessons. We’ll still catch up on things and take lessons, but there will be no classes. yay!
Thank you…we do deserve a break!
Yes, that’s very true. You have other “learning sessions” with the kids, so it is not like they are free with nothing to do, plus you have 4-H and other things, just no formal classes. Enjoy that break for sure!
Congratulations to Elliot and family!!! Successful future study for him!!!
Thank you so much!! It’s exciting to see our kids growing.
