sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

That looks like a big bee!

Those are interesting-looking flowers – the wasp or bee thinks so too!

The bees love this flower, although I don’t know what it is. They were buzzing around it!

It is Dianthus, also known as pinks, are low-growing, fragrant perennials with ruffled flowers that come in white, pink, red, and purple. They are easy to care for, sun-loving, and deer resistant. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies too. Great for spring and fall. It will reseed itself. Requires cutting back for more blooms during the season. In the carnation family. I like it!

Thank you for looking that up! Carnations are pretty flowers. Did you notice the little curly antenna in the middle of the flowers?

I didn’t need to look up the flowers, Esther. I knew the flowers were Dianthus, but they don’t look or smell like Carnations at all. They are categorized in that family though. During my younger gardening years I planted these often before my trauma of being stung by an entire nest of yellow jackets living in my bird of paradise hedge.

Yes, I saw the bee. I don’t like any bugs, especially bees, wasps or yellow jackets. So, I chose my better self… to not to say anything about the bee. Not everyone feels the way I do.

I should smell them next time. Oh my, I would be traumatized too by getting stung by a nest of yellow jackets!! Thank goodness you didn’t have an allergic reaction to it.
