Another coffee shop Bible reading time.
Currently, I’m reading the book of Matthews, which is what my Bible study group is studying. So far from the Bible study, we learned that the book of Matthew is the one of two gospel books (Matthew and Luke) that list the genealogy of Jesus. We also discussed the kind of man Joseph was to marry Mary who was pregnant with Jesus, conceived by the holy spirit. What a shock and betrayal that must’ve felt to Joseph yet he didn’t want to make a spectacle of her and decided to “divorce her quietly.” Then, he founds out in a dream from an angel that the baby is conceived through the holy spirit and that baby will save the people from their sins. That sounds kind of crazy to believe when you first hear it, but he upholds his faith and marries Mary. HIs obedience to what the angel told him shows his honor and obedience to God even when it sounded unbelievable from a human standpoint.
In my past readings of Joseph, I glossed over his role, but slowing down to consider his situation and response gives me a greater appreciation for his character. To obey like that in the face of uncertainty; that’s amazing faith!

His faith was indeed amazing!
I’m glad you are taking some time for yourself for your Bible studies every Monday. I hope you get this comment Esther.
I got your comment!!
Whew!
Well it’s been 15 minutes since I posted the comment and it’s still there – WordPress is something sometimes. One blog post from another blogger was full of pictures, but I got nothing but blank squares. Sigh.
WP acts strange at times, but I’m slow to pick up on it! You’re much faster at picking up on it and thank you for keeping me posted on it.
You’re welcome because I always wonder if others have the same problem. Last week, a blogger who routinely posts on Tuesdays and Fridays did not show up on Tuesday … he was not in Reader either, so I had to go seek him out on his blog.
You are so good about that!! I hope you know how much I appreciate you.
Thank you for saying that Esther.
I mean it!
Thank you. {{{ hugs }}}
Good for you to set aside Bible reading time! ❤️
It’s been good for me and I enjoy it too. 🙂 I could have quiet time at home, but it doesn’t feel the same.
I hope you and your family are well. I named my son Matthew for a reason.
We are doing well, Cindy! Thank you. You picked a great name for your son.
Happy first day of autumn!
