My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Kids really enjoyed them!! It was a fun surprise to see them at the park. I wonder what it’d be like to have a pet snake. Might be difficult to get a snake sitter when going on vacation.

    Uh uh, snake phobia!!!! Eek!

It’s understandable!! They’re not for everyone, but they don’t seem harmful to have as pets. We have a friend who has snake pets and she says they like to sit near her and just get pets.

Oh my goodness! I thought they were fake at first, maybe rubber or stuffies. But I did an Image Search on Google and wow – a Ball Python (it looks like both of the ones on Elliot are variations of the Ball Python). Weren’t the kids scared to handle them? Did you and Chris handle them? If so pictures please! A few years ago in our City’s Residents page in Facebook, someone’s Ball Python got away … I’d have probably Googled to see what it looked like because it was lost a few blocks away, but by the time I read the “lost” post, it was already “found”. Whew!

We were at the park with our other 4-H friends, and I was shocked when the kids called me over to see the snakes. The owner was really friendly and put the snakes around each kid’s neck for pictures. They seemed to be in good health with their smooth skin and plump bodies. He said his son has many more at home! Was it a ball python?! I had no idea. I didn’t handle them but Chris did.
Kids want a snake pet too. I’m ok with it but we have the pet nay sayer at home and he is against any more pets. With Dart’s tail issue and Teddy’s partial blindness, he is done with it. Dart’s tail is growing back into a nub and is healthy. Teddy is halfway through his medicine cycle, but this eyes are still cloudy.
Thank goodness, the ball python was found! I wonder where it wandered to.

Wow, I would be shocked to see those snakes and around the kid’s necks (even for a good photo op). Well Chris is braver than you or me would be. I guess I can see Chris’s point but it is unfortunate that both of your pets ended up with medical issues … my parents said no more dogs after our poodle dug a hole under the chain link fence, ran away and got into some poison. My parents had Peppy euthanized and sat me down and said “when you move out on your own, we’ll buy you a dog or if you get married, that will be your wedding present, but no more dogs here at this house.” Before Peppy the poodle, it was Cocoa the cocker spaniel. We’d put him out in the yard to do his thing, then he would come inside and squat in the middle of the hall on the carpet. The German Shepherd, before him got hip dysplasia and was euthanized. Of course, I could not see their point at the time … I was nine at the time.

P.S. – I hate to think the snake was crawling around in a yard – I’d probably have a heart attack if I went out and saw it.

I’ve grown up terrified of snakes, which is understandable living in Australia. They creep me out.

That’s understandable! I used to be scared of snakes when I was younger, but my college roommate had a snake pet which diminished my fear of them although I did think it was a strange choice of pet.
