sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

A slow rattling sound could be heard behind the green part of this rock wall. Whatever it was, I told them to step away. What if a snake poked his head out? No Thanks!
Still wondering about that sound. Ellis is not taking any chances…stands behind brother.

Thanks Debbie for hosting this challenge!

I love how Ellis is standing looking over shoulder. ‘Dude you go first…..c’mon…..you are older it is your job to go first…..closer…..and then shriek in ear as something looks out. Or not. He he he he I had a younger brother torment went both ways. πŸ™‚ Have a great day.

Sibling dynamics are interesting! Even if it’s nothing, she may scream and he will scream and wonder why they’re screaming in the first place. I can just imagine it. Then a few minutes later act like nothing happened and their best friends again. I grew up as an only child so observing these dynamics is eye opening to this “love/hate relationship.”
Hahahah, how funny. Siblings challenge you to become stronger and develop thick skin.
Hope you, Tember, and the kitty (was his name Thomas?) are having a good weekend!!
Love it when you stop by and say hello.

      1. Jay-lyn Doerksen Avatar

Yes Thomas is beginning to respond to the ear medication. And treat he receives. Has begun to eat again and is so unimpressed with the fact he only gets 3/4 cup of food for the day instead of a cup and a half

Poor guy, getting better from an ear infection! How interesting that little kids get ear infections and so do little kitties. I have no idea if there even is a relationship but just an observation. lol.
hahaha, he thinks you’re holding back on the food. πŸ™‚

He’s probably trying to mark his territory…a newbie in the house getting more attention. Not fair, he says!

Yikes! Rattling sounds in the great outdoors make me nervous too! 😬 🐍

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Agree. Not necessary to do a closer check of what’s making that sound and get hurt in the process. I wouldn’t know what to do and that’s terrible in those situations.
In the great outdoors, the dry leaves rustling and shifting on the ground or around trees can be a big, maybe unwanted, surprise too.

Interesting – almost like caveman days with this background. Isthat a mark on the rocks or the kids’ shadows on the face of the rock?

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I thought so too! It had a very prehistoric feel there. It’s the mark on the rocks. This place was like an throwback to the past. This is the place where I saw the pepper tree as well.

      1. Linda Schaub Avatar

All you needed was the hieroglyphics on the wall!

      2. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Great point Linda!! I will have to remind the kids of that term with the kids again. They made some markings on dough 2 years ago and refuse to let me discard them.

      3. Linda Schaub Avatar

Caveman lingo … make it some type of secret lingo they communicated between one another. Maybe even a grocery list. πŸ™‚ That’s funny … well they can use those for paperweights for school work.

      4. singlikewildflowers Avatar

That sounds like fun. We communicate sometimes through walrus sounds for entertainment. But I recently learned that walrus didn’t make the “wurp wurp” sounds we made.
Great idea for reusing the hieroglyphics print!

Hi Esther – there was an article about Jurassic Quest on my news site I follow … just read it and it gives a detailed description of this adventure and I thought you’d like to read it. I do hope it goes to a location near you and is drive-thru:

      6. singlikewildflowers Avatar

One day we will go to Jurassic Quest. It’s gotta happen before the kids get too old. They are still wide-eyed curious and oooh and ahhh over these things. Now I understand why parents drag their kids to cool places to see their reactions. lol.
Thank you for sharing this link!

      7. Linda Schaub Avatar

You’re welcome – I wanted you to see exactly what it entailed and they extended it the extra week as it was such a hit. They take photos at the end – they didn’t elaborate if it was out of the car or not. I hope it shows up in your neck of the woods while the kids are still enamored with dinosaurs.

      8. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I hope they do swing by our town! So far dinosaurs have been a mainstay interest for 4 years in our home.

      9. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, hopefully it isn’t when the kids are grown up. πŸ™‚

      10. singlikewildflowers Avatar

And if they outgrow it, they may become like me: get back into it as a parent. That’s a long time away!

      11. Linda Schaub Avatar

An eternity right now anyway! They grow up so quickly though.

      12. singlikewildflowers Avatar

They do. It’s subtle but you see the changes in their development. Happy they’re becoming more independent but wistful thinking how much they’ve grown and how much we’ve grown old. Process of life I guess!! It’s harder to be older than younger.

      13. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, as I get older I remember my parents saying to me when I was young “enjoy your youth now … as much as you want to be older, it is not all that it is cracked up to be!”

      14. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Same here. My mom used to say that I would be very busy as an adult, so I should stick with my activities consistently and do well in them. I ignored her advice thinking that I’ll have more time as a grown up. Ack, she was totally right. I haven’t admitted it to her yet; maybe I will soon to make her day and say she was right. πŸ™‚

Looks like Alum Rock by the Mineral Springs!

It is!! You know that park so well. We actually talked about how you run there often. So many interesting trails

You always showcase beautiful and interesting sites! I need to go on nature walks more often.

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Thank you Diane! Your comments make me feel so happy.
I would love to read about the places you go on your nature walks, if you do go. It doesn’t have to be a far away place. Anywhere close with nature and you’ll be surprised with what you discover.
Hope you have a great start to a new week and please say hello to Jerry for me!

      1. Diana (Fille de Dieu) πŸ› Avatar

You’re welcome, Esther! I really enjoy talking to you. πŸ’™

I’ll certainly post something about the last nature walk I was on… that was probably 2 months aback if I’m not mistaken.

Thank you! It was a good week regardless of a few setbacks and I hope yours was great, too. He’s currently asleep. When he wakes, I’ll certainly hug him for you!

      2. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Hope the setbacks were not major!! Life seems to throw obstacles in our path but it’s reassuring to know that God is bigger than all of this. Even though we don’t see it, he is working.
        Hi Jerry!!

      3. Diana (Fille de Dieu) πŸ› Avatar

No, it was not major, thank God! Amen, sis! That, our God is doing!

        🐾🐾

      4. singlikewildflowers Avatar

That’s great to hear. Whether major or not, a setback is a setback.
But when things improve, we’ll be able to look back and see how God was working. I just wish he’d work faster…hahaha, no, j/k/ His timing is perfect.

      5. Diana (Fille de Dieu) πŸ› Avatar

True, but I’m always glad when they’re minor. Amen to that! His timing is perfect. Let us keep trusting in His timing, and learn patience while at it. Here’s to a blessed weekend, my friend.
