Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!
Yay for food sustainability! I look forward to seeing this become a full-fledged carrot and you including it in a dish. 😊
(Thank you for following The Monching’s Guide, by the way! Couldn’t comment on your About page, so I’ll just leave this here if you don’t mind.)

It would be great to use what I harvest in our meals! I guess the carrot leaves could be added to salads. I’m also growing green onions in water and it’s been going great. It’s surprising how just water can lead to this fast growth.
Nice to meet you too Monch and happy to follow your blog! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll top by your blog soon too.

You have a “great science mom” badge coming your way soon Esther. These are growing like crazy – I told you I did the Romaine lettuce stalk in water and had fresh leaves in no time.

I’m learning as much or more than the kiddos! hahaha, you’re generous with your kind comments. But I’ll take them and store it away into my affirmation files.
Amazing what you can grow in water and just what’s in your fridge.

Yes, great experiments to try. In elementary school we had to bring in some seeds, not tell anyone what they were and she brought small pots and potting soil. One boy in the glass had immediate shoots – he brought grass seed! It germinated almost overnight while the rest of us were twiddling our thumbs waiting for something green to pop out of the soil.

What a creative teacher and fun experiment!
When kids took a gardening class, they grew grass seed in a cloth ball and they decorated it with googly eyes. Hilarious hair growth and we even had to give it a haircut.
What seed did you take?

Oh that is funny – I imagine that grass would grow fast. I remember the kid who brought grass and his mother was the teacher on top of it. She was a substitute teacher and was subbing for our regular teacher who was out for an extended time. Gee I don’t remember what I took Esther – sorry. I know whatever it was didn’t win any prizes. 🙂
