Ellis has been dreaming of building a sand castle for years and we finally made an outing to Santa Cruz beach with supplies bought in 2020.
This was our first sand castle making experience at the beach. As you can see in the pics below, they look funky and nothing like fancy castles that you imagine you’d make when you start building. The process was much harder than we thought and took long to build.
Next time may be more successful since we know where to start the builds…stay closer to the edge of the waves for wetter sand than at the dry sandy part of the beach. Chris will appreciate this since we went back and forth bringing us buckets of water to have it just wet the sand and have it dry up in a seconds or less.

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!
Wonderful! A bucket and a shovel can create terrific castles.

Even though we live close to the beach, we don’t visit often at all. But I can see what you’re saying.
You’re a CA girl!

That looks like fun – it has to be 55-60 years since I made a sand castle. OMG am I that old?
