These determined seagulls poked around this beach goer’s backpack for some tasty goods. The owner wasn’t nearby, so these birds went nuts on it. It was the pecking sound from the beak on the plastic container that got our attention. Tap…tap…tap…tap…tap
The treat was unharmed, no belongings shredded, and the owner came back on time to zip up the backpack. Whew…watch out for the seagulls at the beach. They are undaunted and according to the kiddos “very rude.”

You want rude? How about the grackle that flew straight across a restaurant table on Saturday and plucked the French fry I was holding right out of my hand? The whirr of wings certainly was unexpected.
I always think of the seagulls in “Finding Nemo”. Mine! Mine! Mine!
They sure take liberties – gotta love seagulls. At Bishop Park they have grills and they had a persistent seagull many years ago. That bird would fly over the area while people were grilling their food and they’d swipe a bun, one even swiped a wiener … how it didn’t burn its mouth I don’t know.
They are bold and aggressive. I got nervous when one of them kept looking at me; you shoo them away but they come right back. Ack! I would not want one to land on my head or anything.
They are pretty fearless – they are notorious for swooping down low on top of it and I often feel like I have to duck, like thy are aiming for my head!
They must get a kick out of scaring the humans and stealing their foods.
Yes – silly things. When there is one thing to eat, a bunch of them show up. I was at the River when a guy, who had his kids alongside him, brought a bag of cut-up bread. I happened to be walking back to my car and saw him throw out the first handful and the seagulls came from everywhere – it was like a scene out of “The Birds” for goodness sake.
Too much of anything is scary! We have some person who throws bread scraps to birds on a Target parking lot, and the flock of birds swarming the area is a sight. I wonder how the person handles being around the swarming birds.
I wouldn’t think that’s a good idea right now – especially with the avian flu still around. They said in Michigan that you are not supposed to be handling birds or coming in contact with them. Those seagulls would not hesitate to swoop down and grab the bread right from your fingers. Today we had a case of someone who got the Swine flu (they think from a recent State Fair exhibit).

Kids got it already. I rescheduled mine since I got Moderna 4th omicron booster shot. Doctor said to get both on the same day, but I didn’t want to risk getting sick.
No, I’m going to get it next week and I am going to get the Moderna bivalent shot too. I know they say you can get it the same day, but I’m hesitant too. When I had the Moderna second vaccine and second booster, I had flu-like symptoms both times. I have to get my allergy shots this Tuesday … I usually have to wait 48 hours before any other shots, but I’m going to give it a week I think. They said the stats are rising.
Hope the shot this time doesn’t give you any symptoms!! Sore arms is not as bad compared to chills and aches.
I’m not up to date on the stats since they keep changing. Flu season is almost here, so those stats will go up. Hope we all stay vigilant and not lax with mask wearing and hand washing.

I heard that we had 19 deaths today, 147 last week – that’s not good and I’m glad I got booked for the shot, though it is mid-day Saturday which chews up my day a little, but it wasn’t available for weeks at the local CVS and my grocery store didn’t know when it would come in. I got the shingles two-part series this Summer – too many worrisome things swirling around right now and I feel like every time I step outside the door there is something new to battle: Covid, crime and people driving erratically or with road rage … 5 freeway shootings a month. I don’t drive the expressway, just surface streets. Today I had allergy shots, then got to the Park to walk by 9:00 a.m. I was driving down the main street and this guy in an SUV, cut in front of me, zipped into another lane and was weaving back and forth between lanes. It is a 45 mph zone and it was busy at the tail of rush hour. He was an idiot. I think I mentioned my friend who was killed in May by a dump truck driver who was texting and plowed into him at a stop light. He had his neck broken in three places, back broken and internal injuries – died two days later. It is no picnic to drive anymore. But I’m becoming a “little old lady” about driving more and more each day.
