Now Influenza B

My goodness. I thought we’d be in the clear for longer than 2 weeks. Elliot woke up with a bad sore throat again and could barely speak from the pain.

At our afternoon doctors appointment, Elliot tested positive for Influenza B and has started his 5 day Tamiflu treatment this evening. All the symptoms are present: sore throat, headache, nausea, lethargy, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Just like with the coughing from Covid, his whole face broke out with pinpoint red spots from ruptured blood vessels again. It was amazing how the spots appeared all at once after he threw up. It must be from straining while coughing or vomiting.

Well, I had no idea that someone in our family would get sick this quickly again after our recent covid bout! Yikes.

I need to make sure Ellis doesn’t catch it. I’m with Elliot and she’s with Chris. Somehow she fared the best with Covid, out of all of us. But I still need to keep an eye on her.

Pediatrician told me that a person is more susceptible to catch something after covid because the body is recovering from a recent inflammation. I had no idea. And there we were jollying around, masked up of course, town happy to be sick free. Back to our bubble. For a little while.

I don’t know what God has planned for me through this. But I trust they’re not plans to harm me, so I’ll keep trusting. Whew… this April has been a wild month for us!!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I'm so happy you are here. I'm an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature's beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child's heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you'll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll find some interesting posts to read!

    1. Thank you Yvette! I enjoy looking at the little plants that grow through the walkway; so resilient. I didn’t think about them feeling like hope, but yes, they do. Thank you for your prayers. Our bud is feeling much better today. Sicknesses: it gets worse before it gets better. I think last night was the worst. Looking up now~

    1. Jo, I was clueless about post-Covid condition and assumed that we had built up immunity. We finally ventured out to church and youth group for 2 weekends and bam! Elliot is bummed out to miss out on the fun and back to recovery phase again. So is life! But we’re going to make the most of it and maybe go back to the park and check out how much the tadpoles have grown.
      Spring….wait for us….we’ll be back! 🙂
      Hope you are well!

    1. Thank you Liz! He’s springing back sooner than we imagined. The Tamiflu must’ve had a reaction on him, because he was nauseated and throwing up last night. Called the pediatrician and she said to stop. Better just have him take ibuprofen. So much trial and error!

    1. Thank you Launa! I thought flu season was over, but here we are. I know you had a lot of illness at your house too; it’s like us mamas running around like headless chickens. God give us grace, mercy, and energy to help our family recover!!

  1. No “like” for this post – what a horrific month this has been. I am a few days behind, so hopefully Elliot is doing better and Ellis, Chris and you remain unscathed. Hugs to you, Mama Bear. You must plan something special for the family once everyone is 100% again!

    1. Thank you!! You always get me and your encouragements make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I light up when I see you here.
Ohhh, don’t worry about doing something special! Kids remind me. Often. We celebrated Elliot’s birthday on the actual day and 2 days later, we had a recelebration of Ellis’ birthday with cake and special balloons.

      1. Thank you for saying that Esther … and once again I am four days behind. One night I don’t go to Reader as I did a post or had comments, then the next thing I know, I’m four days behind. Our weekend weather has been the pits, this weekend too. At least I will try and get a post or two ahead for when the nice weather finally arrives. I am glad you had your special celebrations – otherwise the kids would have felt cheated and I can’t blame them.
