My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
They’re fun animals to watch! One is always on the lookout and moving its head alert to every sound and movement.
The zoo bus conductor told us that they’re very territorial. In this zoo exhibit, they have two clans and they live entirely separate lives. One clan member dare not enter the other’s area. They burrow and live underground.
They’re always on the lookout since they’re prey animal. At the zoo, they’re as safe as can but since they’re prey animal, one always acts as a sentinel for predator birds.
Aren’t they cute?!
They are cute – I think that is interesting. A predator bird could carry them away then? We had a baby wallaby last year at our zoo and the pen it stayed in with its mom was latched so it did not escape. It was nowhere to be found and the zoo surmises that a predator bird swooped down and carried it away. Sad.
You’re right…a predator bird could swoop in and carry it away! Can you imagine their fright at this reality?
Oh my, that’s sad to think a baby wallaby could be eaten by a predator bird. But those birds are very big and strong!
Yes, very scary and the Detroit Zoo initially didn’t think that happened. They thought it was hiding, or worse, one of the employees had a beef with Management and stole it … a few days later they said this is what happened. It was the size of a small dog. Those predator birds have powerful feet and menacing claws.
Yes! Did you ever see a photo trending on the internet a few years ago of an osprey that got a huge fish and it weighed it down so much it nearly drowned? I’ll send you the video in a separate comment – I found it.
That is amazing! Can you imagine getting slapped by that bird?! OUCH.
Ellis screamed, “geez, I like that bird. Wings are as long as my noodle arms.” Now I’m scared of her.

I do believe he’s doing his morning yoga.
Lots of stretching and trying his hardest not to flip over on this finicky hammock!
😀
Wonderful photos 😀
Thank you! He was a good model.
What a nice subject. Seems like it was enjoying the photo session.🤣
I’ve never been lucky enough to see one, but I like when you see pics of them standing on haunches, lined up in a row (kind of like squirrels do).

Can you imagine their wing strength to carry away a small animal in their claws?!

What’s amazing here is the Osprey carried that huge fish and its wings were soaking wet.

Yes, that wingspan is very scary!
It can knock down a grown adult.
